Haha... i'm also considering to get an iPhone... but 3 months is too long to hold... haish...

But one thing that i always thought is... even the new govt have waived the GST, then i dont think the price will drop since the RRP already included (absorb) the GST...

for example the price of iPhone X 256GB is RM5899... So the new price will be RM5899 - 6% = RM5545.06, am i rite?

As for telco price, it is clear and understood on the prices they quoted are exclusive of 6% GST... so they dont have to revise the price. The only thing is just no need to add the 6% during the checkout...

I think the way they calculate it will be slightly different, and it probably won't be as simple as just -6%. Well, lets see smile.gif

No familiar with Sales tax here but it will replace GST right? So effectively, it would be more expensive? 10% vs 6%?

Yeah, this is my current plan now, for the iPad 2018, although the several visits to Harvey had me interested in the MacBook Pro too.

Haha.
We are on the same boat!
Since iPad 2018 has just been released, I’m pretty sure stock level should still be healthy, even after 100 days.
I will just wait for then.
It’s not like my iPad 2 is broken or anything of that sort.

Apple does not revise the price so often. Only once a year. Even if there is any changes in price due to no GST. It may takes a while before it is effective.

Yeah, possibly in September, after the new iPhone announcement.

What interests me though, is once the GST is zero-rated, the price of everything should no longer reflect the 6% we see in the tax invoice so by default, wouldn’t most things be automatically cheaper?

yes, by rite, it is.

because before GST implemented, bolehland apple products can be cheaper as high as SGD80+ comparing to lion city.

there were one period buying macbook in bolehland is so much cheaper than lion city.

few years back, due to the weakning of MYR, apple revised price 3 times in a year.
two times becos of currency, one time becos of GST.

that's the reason why bolehland price is now higher or same as lion city.

If prices reduced ....yahoo great smile.gif

So many uncertainties with the government's decision. It is difficult to take away the livelyhood of the government when your pockets are thin. Probably after sometime as and when its recovered. Yes, but it does take time though.

Just have to work harder to get more RM in order to what ones desires.

Yeah, but this "tax holiday" window between the abolishment of GST and before the reintroduction of SST is a good time to purchase big value items, like an iMac Pro - or a car laugh.gif

Some prices of accessories dropped as well, e.g. Apple Pencil, (was RM419, now RM395) but some accessories remain at the same price, e.g. Lightning to USB cables (was RM89 is RM89).

Edit: Just checked, USB to Lightning cables price down too, was RM89, is RM83.

I bought my 2018 iPad in Australia 2 months ago which has a 10% GST at Apple staff price. After claiming GST from airport, I ended up saving over RM400 as compared to Malaysian price minus 6% GST. Had GST not abolished I saved up to RM560.

The reason I went with Cellular rather than WiFi only: -

1. Cellular models have GPS, sometimes I use Waze on my iPad
2. Cellular models have slightly better resale value
3. I’m too lazy to switch on hotspot

I doubt those are good enough reasons to justify spending another 500 bucks though laugh.gif

Good thing for cellular version of iPad is that if go overseas and u buy a data Sim u can use it as a hotspot for ur mobile phone and other devices. This is good if one does not have a mifi device etc.

The reason I went with Cellular rather than WiFi only: -

1. Cellular models have GPS, sometimes I use Waze on my iPad
2. Cellular models have slightly better resale value
3. I’m too lazy to switch on hotspot

I doubt those are good enough reasons to justify spending another 500 bucks though laugh.gif

pretty much good enough if those are really important. this is my first ipad, so I'm not sure if I will go for cellular or not. 500 is ok to spend for such benefit imo.

Good thing for cellular version of iPad is that if go overseas and u buy a data Sim u can use it as a hotspot for ur mobile phone and other devices. This is good if one does not have a mifi device etc.
