Was on Facebook and saw a video ad from the ASUS ROG page mentioning about how the STRIX SCAR Edition is now "refreshed" with the Intel 8th gen CPUs. Comparing this to a 7th gen equivalent CPU, what are the differences? Is it more powerful or perhaps, much more efficient?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ May 8 2018, 09:08 AM) Increased multi core performance Is there a huge difference in this? Was thinking if not really and there is a decent price difference between the 2 gens, might as well go for the 7th gen machine for me

8th Gen CPU is much faster but not necessary for normal usage.

If you not doing too heavy of a work like Autodesk Maya, rendering or the such, remain at 7th gen would be good due to cost

depends on code name. 7th gen i7 gaming laptop usually comes with 4C(cores)8T(threads) 8th gen i7 gaming laptop usually packs with 6C12T 8th gen i7 mobile's peak performance is better than its predecessor.
get 8th gen instead.
but when i say it depends on the code name, it's because only i7 8700B, 8750H and 8850H are 6 cores processors. the other i7 "U" processors are 4.
