Johnno, well I can see the angle your taking this, most of us Malaysians have supported their team when they have finished in the top four, for quite a few years. But for a young kid at school that has just got into football.. unless he's influenced by family or friends who support the underdogs like Forest, Wednesday, he will pick one of the top four, because apart from trophy's he will see the best football and footballers playing for them.
Everyone has their own reasons for supporting the clubs they do. Lets not forget that the top 4 are hugely successful and have done the work to market themselves on an International basis also. They have strong performances and players who are very talented, well liked and enjoyed. They have good Managers who get the best consistently over the seasons from their teams and can compete successfully Internationally. They are always going to have a huge supporters base. Even though they will all have some bandwagon supporters, most support with their heart.
I guess those are the reasons why Malaysians only choose the top 4 as their team.
