Hi guys,

Inm thinking of upgrading to the onyx G with ryzen 7 and rtx3070.

Is illegear a good quality laptop brand? How often do u encounter issues with your laptop hardware wise?

Currently using dell inspiron from 2015 iirc, so far the laptop quAlity is superb, but nowadays sometimes encounter software instability. Other than that its been good. Wanna upgrade coz gtx1050ti cant do shit now  laugh.gif

One more thing, hows thr after sales service of illegear, like parts availability and speed ?

Illegear or Tongfang barebones is great if you are lucky if it didn't has small and random issues here and there.

I love my Onyx GTX1060, but it has encountered faulty keyboard flex cable, swollen battery and sudden-dead GPU within 2.5 years of usage and I don't game heavily much.

Also out of warranty repair cost is super expensive from official, and it's hard to find replacement parts locally too.

Tbh there's too much risk in Illegear laptop by looking at other vendors who also sell Tongfang barebones. I rather choose a well known brand that has big user base and stable qc. Also easier to troubleshoot if you're having problems, especially getting replacement parts.

I'd say buying electronic really depends on your luck.

My Onyx V Ryzen does not have issues. The only one time I sent back for servicing is reformat and re-install command centre (license expired because of wrong version installed).

My other friends using Illegear laptops for many years, 4 of them don't have problems, 1 of them has battery issue.

Yes u might be right. But looking at how much cheaper a lenovo legion 5 pro with rtx3070 and 1tb ssd is compared to illegear with the same spec, i think i would rather go for lenovo eventho the legion 5 pro might not be as sleek as the illegear laptops

Sorry for pm in this thread.

Prince J STEVE@ILLEGEAR AZIM@ILLEGEAR
I using Illegear Rogue 9th gen, 1660TI version.

Last year Q4, I found up the battery had buldged. I make an purchase order for battery replacement. The price also not cheap.
My other friends' laptop having the same issue as well for Onyx.

This year same Q4, the new battery is buldged again.
Is it possible to get a better battery replacement or no? Because battery replacement each year is no cheap, and it allocate my time to go to your office.

Thank you.

My Onyx GTX1060 battery swollen again, it is really a yearly thing and I am super frustrated about it. The last time they told me perhaps because my laptop is too hot. After the last replacement, I have made sure to undervolt my laptop, never go over 85, and clean the dust monthly, still same thing happened again, it is clearly the super bad quality of the battery itself and damn it costs a lot.

Anyone know where to buy the battery ourselves and fix it?

For all those who have swollen battery within few months, I think that the laptops FW or BIOS have configured battery to be the primary power source and then AC adapter is treated as a secondary source for extra power. If you try to run any GPU intensive task after removing the battery, you'd get GPU Power Limit throttling as evident from MSI AfterBurner and in Intel XTU, you can see Current/EDP limit throttling while running a CPU intensive task.
This is something which Tongfang should fix and Illegear should co-ordinate with them to get a working FW/BIOS for all users having battery issue.

Sad to see no effort from Illegear for this specific bug from last 3 years or so.

I think it should be 1 mm or 1.5 mm. I also need to replace them for my Selenite 9th gen but can't find any good options here.

Mine is 1.1 years. Looks like I must be prepared for this too. Where are you gonna buy the battery and change? SC charge arm and leg right?

Bought from TaoBao at RM189.55, RM11.50 for shipping using 3rd party forwarder. Illegear quoted me RM450 for the battery replacement.
