does the onyx board support asynchronous dual channel?
right now i have factory 16gb 2666mhz, wanted to add in another 4gb 2666mhz to make it dual channel, wondering will it make any difference like increasing the speed, performance and such?

Hi low0915, the Onyx laptop do not support asynchronous dual channel configuration at the moment, hope this clarifies smile.gif

Need some help here. I recently updated windows 10 to version 1903. Everything is working properly except the audio. I tried to uninstall and re-download the realtek audio driver from illegear website ( audio_realtek_4_66). Not working. No sound although driver installed. No exclamation mark on device manager on the Realtek Audio too. The only way sound is working is when i uninstalled realtek audio from control panel. However if this is the case, Sound Blaster Connect App shows "Your audio device cannot be detected" . Onyx 8750h+rtx2060 user here

Update : I manage to get Realtek drivers install and working properly using built-in Windows troubleshoot. However, Sound Blaster Connect is broken now . So I uninstall it. Currently I am unable to reinstall the exe file downloaded from the website. It just doesn't appear in program files or my Start Menu after I install.

Hi sw1314, there is a difference between 8750H and 9750H. The i7-9750H processor clocks at between 2.6 and 4.5 GHz (4 GHz with 6 cores) while the i7-8750H at between 2.2 and 4.1 GHz (4 GHz with 4 cores, 3.9 GHz with 6 cores). and both has the same amount of power draw. Hence, performance of 9750H would be slightly higher comparing to 8750H.

https://www.techspot.com/review/1847-intel-...9750h-vs-8750h/

Above links is to reference for the comparison between both processor series.

Hi AZIM@ILLEGEAR, Prince J, STEVE@ILLEGEAR

I'm using Onyx i7 8750H. Can you send me a link to download latest BIOS?

My unit has been replaced through RMA once and even now when on battery, if the battery dips below 60% I can see my cursor lagging and everything else lags. It come and goes and that annoyed me.

Also, once in a while, whether I'm doing work (low load apps such as Word, Excel etc) or browsing the web or playing games, the screen went black and I can't get it back. Nothing can be done except to force shutdown and start the unit again.

I haven't got the chance to drop by the office as I live in Kedah but would love to hear back any suggestions on why this happened and perhaps a way to fix this?

Hello, new member here, just got my Onyx a week ago and I noticed that the CPU temps get toasty pretty quick. I'm getting 98deg when gaming while the GPU is getting 87deg. Is this normal?

Normal for i7 8750h and could be hotter with 9750h. Depending on what games you play and target frames, implement CPU and GPU boost and clock cap.

I'm able to play fortnite at all epic settings 60fps without laptop cooler at around 72degrees max (average 63degrees) via that method. With laptop cooler around 70 ish. Pushing 120fps at 1.3ghz max GPU clock will be around 75-76degrees max-ish. Fortnite doesn't use much CPU anyway so for 6core12thread 8750h, even 2.2ghz max CPU is enough. Other games vary so understanding your game well will help to you minimize temp and noise level.

Search this thread and even on main illegear thread for other suggestion from other hot laptop users.

I'm using the model with the 9750H onboard. Really surprised me as I'm not used to temps this high, thanks for the input.

8750H is slightly hotter actually due to minor differences in manufacturing, even though specs look similar

Hi kyLL

The model number of the 180W power adapter (for Onyx with GTX 1060) is Chicony A15-180P1A, pictured here: https://imgur.com/97QnUFb

However if you are unable to locate the variant in Singapore, it is still possible for you to obtain a third party unit to be used with the laptop - you would only need to ensure that the charging pin as well as the watt rating of the adapter is the same smile.gif All the best ya!

My Onyx's touchpad was bulging, took the cover off and it seems like the battery is swollen and hence pushing the touchpad. Removed the battery as a precaution.

How much does a new battery cost and can Illegear fix it in a single visit?

Hi jrlogger, sorry to learn about this!

In regards to this issue, we can try to replace the battery under warranty if the coverage is still valid. However in regards to the pricing (if the battery's one-year warranty is over) as well as the estimated time for the completion, I would recommend for you to inquire our Support Line directly via WhatsApp by using the contact below:
