I only have a bit of bleeding on the the bottom left near the hinge, and the typical glow throughout.

Then again, I was pretty specific about bleed when I ordered my unit so it might just be that.

Unfortunately, CC/GC is a software that hooks into system API calls (which it needs to do so that it can do its job), and most Anti Cheat software backends hate that.

Hence, "Game Security Violation".

To be fair, these Anti Cheat backends do the same thing with all similar "system management" software like MSI Dragon Center and the like, until the software gets added to the Anti-Cheat software's database of "allowed" programs.

So you actually need to buzz Epic to tell them that their Anti Cheat backend is spazzing out on your system management software.

As for the "bruising", the panel does that sometimes while on the lowest brightness setting (it actually goes so low that the backlights themselves show up like that). Try increasing your minimum brightness/brightness on battery by a little bit in Power Plan, or if you want a quick fix, push the brightness up a bit manually, and then back down.

The not so bright Enter in "User" mode? Man, yours are actually brighter then mine is lol. Mine nearly seems off, and this has been a long standing bug with the "User" mode TBH. I have no idea why it happens either as the LED is fine for that particular key in the other modes.

And yes, seems the Music KBB light setting is just that sad lol. Mine does the same thing too.

EDIT: The new Command Center FINALLY fixed the Return/Enter dimness in User Mode, awesome!

nyunyu I DIY-ed mine with translucent CF, palmrests and lid. You can catch a glimpse of it in my Big/Little Beast photo a few pages back (Page 6 I think).

It looks like black CF but the logo shows through (on the lid).

Also, fully transparent vinyl is pretty hard to get right unfortunately. Unless you're really careful, the adhesive streaks and bubbles very, very easily.

Yeah, I think it's slightly dimmer too, but that's a good change for me personally.

No white here too though. Maybe next update.

Also, Prince J, the lightbar switch on the first page of the new CC isn't working. It's not keeping the setting though boot. You need to go into the lighting section specifically and turn the bar off there.

I'm using the Aero profile myself TBH, after I lost my own customised ICC after a reset. But be sure you're using the Aero 15X V7 profile - the V8 is using a different, 144hz screen.

The "old" Aero 15/15x is V7. The new CFL-H one is V8.

Well I'm not having any shutdown issues after hours of Fallout 4 and FC5 (amongst other games) so you can't say that every unit has the same issues.

That said, I would personally say you'll be better off waiting for the new BIOS/EC to be released if you're still interested in the Onyx, as it seems to fix a lot of issues present in the initial release.

Also, dat keyboard is pretty much an acquired taste as well, especially if you like your typing to be quiet.

Yep, if it's the Aero 15/15x V7 (aka last year's non CFL-H model), then its the same exact panel the Onyx uses.

Actually warm IS colour accurate. For printing / photo editing anyway. The "white" white you're probably used to is actually "too blue", though you might have not noticed unless you've sent your photos to be printed by a proper photo printing shop.

That said, your "white point" shouldn't be approaching orange overall. By that point it's probably too warm already, but very light beige-warm white IS actual white.

azwn Check out Notebookcheck's review on the Coffee-Lake Asus GM501. I think Illegear is gonna use those 144hz panels for the Onyx upgrade so the specs on the GM501 tests apply.

Compare those specs to the Aero 15/15x V7 (Kaby Lake) panel (which is also reviewed on NBC last year) which is used on the 60hz Onyx.

As for the random shutdowns, does using a bigger PSU help then?

Conversely, does that mean the upcoming BIOS update will actually cap performance to 150w levels EVEN if I have a 180w adapter then?

Or does it actually come with adjustable limits in BIOS as per the latest China update?

No it didn't, it came with the standard 150w adapter unfortunately.

That said, I do have a compatible (MSI/Asus head) 180w spare lying around, so I was wondering.

Wait, which BIOS update? STEVE@ILLEGEAR actually pulled the updates off this thread (check back a page) for some reason.

Check back with Illegear? Maybe there are issues with the update itself thus it was pulled?

I actually have no BSOD issues nor bleed that is objectively "bad", but yeah more or less its a lottery - same as it is with any other brand.

TBH, the only real probable "deal-breaker" with the Onyx is the keyboard, as its pretty subjective. For me, I hate that it sometimes double-registers when I don't give it a firm punch, but otherwise I'm okay with it - sound and all.
