Any idea what is the value for a 2016 Proton Iriz? Mileage is 100,000km.

What I do normally is to gently tap on the accelerator after I let go of my brake for 1 second. RPM will then raise to above 1k and stay there which allow me to accelerate the moment I step on accelerator again. But it does not work all the time however. I am extremely stressful when I am the first car at the traffic lightđŸ˜”
*
Traffic lights not a problem...just pay attention since you need to give way to the rempits for the initial few seconds, should be more than enough for the clutch to catch

On a slope exiting a junction however....

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Jun 29 2025, 12:54 PM)
Old tech engine with cast iron for engine block, vs rival all using aluminum alloy for greater weight. Plus outdated VVT tech, and not understand for CVT Punch brand but RPM at 110kmh is similar as using 4 gear auto. All not helping for FC
*
The initial ratio in the first gen Iriz was good... RPM 1800 for 100km/h...
But ppl complain about jerking in slow traffic/jam, somehow the "engineers" then tuned it to 4AT ratio?
Funnily, Punch is not specific to Proton...no one have such bad CVT ratios

My Iriz (1.3 CVT 2015 model) encountering this issue where the ESC light suddenly comes on while driving and totally lose acceleration power. Tekan minyak but engine no response. Need to restart engine then everything back to normal.

Hi have you settle the issue? My car suffering the same issue now. cry.gif

Hi, sorry I didn't see your post. But I saw in another thread that you've settled it by overhauling the gearbox.

Just to update my situation so that it helps anyone else who might also be encountering the same issue.

Yes, it's gearbox issue that's apparently very common for Iriz and Persona CVT. Seems like inevitably every CVT Iriz will encounter this issue? Because basically it's wear and tear of the belting and parts inside the CVT transmission gearbox. My friend's Iriz also encountered this issue.

I also got mine overhauled; for RM4.5k including labour and transmission fluid with 1 year warranty from Summer Auto Transmission. Took a total of 11 days.

u are not alone in the CVT issue. My family's previous generation HRV car was also sent in for a repair due to the CVT belt bursting inside. Spend rm4k+ at Sg Buloh workshop

Error code P1765 secondary pulley pressure too low, all the punch cvt kena the same after high mileage. Worst more often kena to saga flx cvt, second hand value rm12k nobody wants. Proton should end production of car using punch cvt, is a failure product. Once got clutch slipped, it will triggered traction control and pandai2 help u to free gear in the middle of drive.

Any brand car gearbox will have problem if don't service the gearbox oil, once got jerking symptoms need to straight away change the gearbox oil + treatment as maybe gearbox filter already clogging and fluid not entering the valvebody to create enough pressure.

Sad case is for this proton punch not cheap, cvt fluid + filter + adaption rm500+. Like my old 1st gen persona, once got jerking problem just buy 5x rm30 atf oil paid tyre shop rm50 gaotim. If not 100% settled problem pun the car won't free gear at middle drive like this st*pid punch cvt.

Want to estimate price but lazy go carsome, there's 1 formula. Go to carsome website find your car model similar spec and year then minus 40% from their retail price will be around that.

Long time ago, I bought a 3 years old Iriz 1.6 Auto Premium for rm21k, and the car had verified low2 mileage from SC, about 11k km

made me curious so i did a simple & quick research.

2019 city ~58k. which is around 67% of the original price.
2019 vios ~59k. around 68% of its original price.
2019 persona ~32k. around 60% of its original price.
2019 iriz ~26k. around 65% of its original price.
2019 saga ~30k. around 76% of its original price.

all prices from carsome, use average price of same year and specs.

the highest value is the only car with 4at.

correlation or direct causation hmm.gif i'll leave it to brighter minds than me.

Hey guys, need some advice.
I’m driving a 2015 Proton Iriz CVT and recently been having jerking issues, especially during low speeds or stop-go traffic. Sent it to a workshop and they reconfigured the gearbox system. It worked fine for a while, but the problem came back after some time.
Some technicians are now recommending to replace the gearbox with a recond unit.

Just wondering, has anyone here faced the same issue before? Is going for a recond gearbox a practical solution, or should I explore other options first?

Appreciate any feedback!

Didn’t ask technician on the error code. They just stated they have reset/ reconfigured the entire thing.

Sometimes it will pop up the “yellow” sign but it will disappear itself.

Mileage is about 190k

Hah.. Which technician you go to.. Outside workshop or proton SC.. Did they at least mention the error code related to what? Whether its gb related or other stuffs..
If you know the error code at least can google to confirm if its gearbox related or not..

the two sign i talking about is this btw..
user posted image

if both of them got appear before, then yeah gb failure should be imminent la.. and for that age/mileage, well kinda expected its about time some gb issue would appear.. 10 years and 190k km..

Maybe now still can jalan, but from my own experience just be prepared for it to fail completely one of these days.. So prepare the budget for it and also survey around few gb specialist workshops..

QUOTE(Optizorb @ Nov 26 2024, 04:29 AM)
update on this.

found a decent-ish gearbox specialist workshop.. did overhaul for 3.5k..
fingers crossed can last me at least another 150k km without issues.

Brief info about my iriz:
Age: 9+ years old, 420k km. Timely-ish service. Car rented out for ehailing. Every 2~3 months clocking 10k km..
- cvt gb kong 1st time @ 145k km, claimed under warranty.
- cvt gb kong 2nd time @ 415k km, did overhaul.
*
QUOTE(Betrue @ Nov 26 2024, 09:00 AM)
Wow 420k km mileage really not bad, already worth back the money dy.
Gearbox problem P01765 secondary pulley pressure too low ?
Car free gear at middle drive with cvt, brake and car slip logo came out right?
This punch cvt was a failed product since the saga flx, i hope persona/iriz if still got facelift change to aisin 4at like saga.
*
QUOTE(Optizorb @ Nov 26 2024, 10:00 AM)
yes, exactly that. car slip symbol + durian symbol came out on dash followed by loss of power, scanned OBD2 and got that error code as well
*
^anyway my own update on this. After overhaul at 415k km, now 9 months later reaching 470k km. So far so good. **fingers crossed**

I went to outside technician .. my experience thus far with them

1. First visit to a so called GB specialist and they insist to just reconfigure .. but it was a let down as problem resurfaced.

2. Second visit to one normal workshop. They actually just send my car to another GB and reconfigure the system. Another let down. They actually charge me twice of what I paid in (1)

3. Third visit to other normal workshop. They suggesting change recond GB. But I doubt they do it themselves and more likely send my car to other GB to handle it.
