QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Oct 31 2008, 02:56 PM) Some banks even charge you yearly RM12 for using the ATM card. PB can be free. Tune money card is the cheapest I think with an annual fee of just RM9.99 QUOTE(Shinichi @ Oct 31 2008, 11:53 PM) Ya, guess its the lowest annual fee for debit card that can be used with Paypal. as mentioned. PB can be free, i use it with my PayPal too. so far no problem.Other than this, there are some free for life debit cards from PB but they do not support Paypal usage. |

My friend recommends Tune Money. I cannot give my personal experience because just apply and topup. Waiting for the card to arrive at pos office.
Why I choose? - my friend blacklisted by bank and credit card also can apply - cheap annual fee RM9.99 - cheap RM2 fee to topup - ATM withdrawal charge RM1.15 at CIMB ATM - can view account statement online line M2U - MOST IMPORTANT can be used for Paypal, need this to purchase stuff from ebay |

BTW wanna ask people using Maybank Debit card. If you have insufficient funds when you use, will Maybank automatically take money from your savings account or the transaction halted? Is this true or not since I know for a fact Maybank housing loan, car loan and credit card will take money from you without asking for permission. You cannot dispute the transaction afterwards since it's not credit card and not protected by credit card bank laws.
This is a bit dangerous if your card is stolen or merchants scam you. Better off using a credit card because can dispute right? That is why I personally prefer Tune Money. Also what about other cards beside Maybank like the PB and AMbank. If you have some experience please do share. |

MasterCard upbeat on debit card
It issues more debit than credit cards Kuala Lumpur: Debit cards are fast gaining acceptance in Malaysia, said MasterCard vice president and senior country manager (Malaysia and Brunei) Jim Cheah. He said the issuance of MasterCard debit cards in the first six months of this year surpassed that for credit cards. “The usage of debit cards has been steadily increasing over the past few months as it is cashless, efficient and convenient,” he said at a briefing yesterday. Debit card transaction volume had surpassed credit card transactions in markets like Australia, the US, Taiwan and parts of Europe, Cheah said. For the nine months ended Sept 30, MasterCard worldwide recorded a US$6.8 trillion worth of debit card transactions and gross dollar volume of US$554bil. Cheah said a debit card was more convenient and secure than carrying cash, offered better financial control to the cardholder and was accepted worldwide. “A MasterCard debit card is accepted anywhere where a credit card is accepted. MasterCard has more than 28 million global acceptance locations,” he said, adding that there were more than 100,000 merchants locally that accepted both MasterCard debit and credit cards. Currently, six banks are issuing MasterCard debit cards locally. Cheah said the card could be used at automated teller machines for cash and transfers. To a question, Cheah said consumers were becoming more cautious in their spending. However, he said consumer spending for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions charted double-digit growth for the first half of this year. On delinquencies, he said: “We have a pretty healthy credit card industry in Malaysia. “Malaysians are not heavy borrowers. I do not think our non-performing loan ratio is spiking.” URL: http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...82&sec=business |
