QUOTE(MNet @ Apr 14 2009, 08:48 PM) yes you are right, you need 200K cash in deposit accountmoney in other unit trust/shares/assets are not counted of course but your 200K could be used in citigold's unit trusts etc however they have a strange exception if however for some reason you don't have 200K in hand you put in 100K first, then within 6 months or something it has to become 200K |

QUOTE(aeronic @ Apr 14 2009, 09:46 PM) yes you are right, you need 200K cash in deposit account Well, i did email Citibank asking about their Citigold last week and here is some of the answers from them :money in other unit trust/shares/assets are not counted of course but your 200K could be used in citigold's unit trusts etc Citigold customer will need to maintain RM200,000 AUM. The total Assets Under Management (AUM) of RM200,000 may be from a combination of the following: - Savings Account (SA) - Current Account (CA) - Time Deposit (TD) - Investment (UT) - Housing Loan (HL) - ODTD - Insurance (BancAssurance) And by the way, just like HSBC Premier, there will be no handling charge when you withdraw money using your Citigold VISA debit card at any overseas Citibank ATM. |

Any loans and assets outside not counted. Unless you have cash outside which you agree to transfer to citibank within a set ammount of time. I used my regurlar (non citigold) Malaysian Citibank ATM card for my checking account (not savings, dunno) to withdraw several times in US, no handling charges, plus the coversion rate was very good, better than VISA/Master card of course. Yup ... conversation rates are good, no handling/admin/withdrawal fees but the main hassle is to find the bank itself. Finding the bank itself in a foreign land can be an adventure on its own. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I know it is easy to find Citibank branches in South Korea (or HSBC ATMs in Hong Kong) . plenty of them everywhere. Often I found them while riding the cab and on one occasion when I checked the map ... it looked like it was quite far away but in actual fact almost right opposite my hotel! What I'm saying is that it can be easy but it can also be a nightmare if you are not a map savvy person or the kind that is not good with directions. Citibank did not charge me when I withdrew from their network. I didn't manage to test it out with SCB and HSBC though. My take is that if the ATM is not available in the airport (or nearby) then just use the normal ATMs with Cirrus network. One example which I had was I spent equivalent RM5 back and forth on the trains to get to the bank and it took me 45mins to do so. I might as well pay the RM12 fees and I can withdraw the money in 45 secs coz the local bank's ATM was right in front of me. Similarly I once spent 2 hours just to save RM12 (this happens in another country) .... I got wiser since then. I might have saved RM7 but I spent 45 mins just to save that much. (And it was a hot sunny day) I could have used that time to do something else. Well ... I'm not sure how did the guy did it without being charged extra. I know there are RHB and MBB branches in Singapore but I doubt so they have branches in Shenzen ... if you get my anology. This post has been edited by hye: Apr 15 2009, 08:06 PM |

QUOTE(Badang_Laut @ Apr 15 2009, 07:56 PM) Is this what you are talking about ? SLV U-PayIf it is true ... look at these facts ... 1. They are not even a bank. So many fraud cases nowadays ... why take the risk ? 2. The vendors website is infected with a trojan virus (I found out while researching), you think they care about protecting you (money, personal information) if they can't even protect their own website ? No offense to those entrepreneurs but I would prefer to trust my money to a bank which is a licensed financial institution by BNM. Plus, my money is guaranteed by the government since they are a member of PIDM. You can subscribe to them (or try them out) at your own risk. |

I'm currently using a Public Bank Debit Card. I want to use it with paypal but it keep saying that my debit card has been denied by the bank. I even loaded the minumum rm 25 inside.
Any idea how to get it work? (by the way, I have applied for the "certified by visa" in the public bank website yesterday) |

I did manage to get my PBB VISA Electron verified with PayPal but it two years ago, so i don't remember how did i do it. Why don't you try to deposit more money into it ? Say another RM25 ? Then try it again.Any idea how to get it work? (by the way, I have applied for the "certified by visa" in the public bank website yesterday) |

I don't think you get any treatpoint at all when pumping petrol and pay for it using your Maybank VISA debit. |

Come back and check your current account statements.Added on April 15, 2009, 2:25 pm You were charged some fees right ? It should be between RM8 to RM12 if you use the Cirrus (or equivalent) network. And the exchange rate is very good! Of course if you use Cirrus, PLUS, VISA Interlink there will be charges of about RM10, but Citibank ATMs in US big cities are very easy to find, not like Citibank in Singapore find 50 other ATMs then only got one 1 Citibank ATM. And Malaysia even worst about below 10 centres. In NYC and LA Citibank ATMs are everywhere. |
