Ok, thanks. Would have prefered a live tv; sometimes just lazy to scroll through and find something to watch.

Anyway, can't complian as there would be more choices. Just hope they put on some good shows.

BBC First would usually have Top Gear/Dr Who the same day as the UK

Seems that F1 license is being picked up individually by country's pay tv provider, instead of a central company selling it to multiple country

Philippines's Cignal TV has picked it up for their market
https://twitter.com/CignalTV/status/1438008694000603137?s=09

Kinda feel sad that this means Unifi TV will unlikely have F1

Great info and good summary as you compare the payTV situations in Asia post-cessation of FOX SPORTS. It seems like all providers are scrambling to fill in the gap left by Fox Sports. For Astro and other providers, having inhouse channels might be the solution in addition to SPOTV. Still wondering what contents will be on SPOTV2 since Astro is only taking SPOTV1.
*
I presume SPOTV 2 will have overlaps with what Astro already offers, hence why Astro only picking up one channel. My only concern will be for sports that are licensed solely by SpoTV and are shown at the same time, for example some MotoGP races and WSBK races happens at the same weekend, and both are licensed to SpoTV by Dorna

A follow-up for my Astro IPTV question that I asked days before:
- What property can the Astro installer installs Astro IPTV on, or is it limited to landed properties / condominium?
- As I know that it has a VLAN to transfer IPTV data, where does the IPTV data comes from? Is it directly from Astro's Bukit Jalil HQ, or it's something like CDN?
- Any other routers to recommend for this kind of IPTV services (supports VLAN / IPTV stuffs)?

Thanks.
*
IIRC when I was using Astro IPTV before, you need to use the specially provided Thomson router. Unlike Unifi TV, there is no special port for Astro IPTV. Any port will work, and the STB will be given the same IP range as your PC. I presume the multicast is handled by the router itself, hence why you need to use the supplied router

AFC Champions League which is currently airing on FOX SPORTS is strangely missing in Astro's new sport channels replacement.

Likely SpoTV is carrying it, as they have the license already

Interesting, especially since Astro shows the UFC logo for Supersport 5. Likely Astro has sub-license it

Bad news for RTM Sports, who has been the free alternative for Malaysians to watch MotoGP

My understanding of that article is that Astro is the best way of getting the widest coverage of sporting events because you may need to subscribe to a tons of apps just to watch what were on FOX Sports before.
*
Yeah, especially Bein Sports as picked up the rights for Serie A, and it's only on Astro

Well that was a tearful farewell. MotoGP coverage on Fox was quite decent, especially when compared to their F1 coverage, as they actually has somone at the track (usually Amy Reynolds) helping with on site info

Not sure who will host SPOTV pre and post event shows. English speaking Koreans?

Likely none, just using the MotoGP feed, similar to WSBK

*
Interesting that SpoTV feel that Fox didn't do much in terms of local language content. Fox did have a dedicated Malay feed previously (commentary via Dr Harmi Takzim), but was dropped after RTM acquired free to air license for Malaysia, and Fox themseves were loosing money (being based in Singapore was expensive).

I have a feeling there will be Malay/Indonesian local commentary, and a local production base in either these two countries in the future.

I think so. Malay-speaking market (Indonesia & Malaysia) is very big. Is Singapore the best place for regional office? These companies regional offices are based in Singapore:
1. Fox Disney
2. Discovery Networks
3. Rewind Networks (Hits & Hits Movies)
4. Rock Entertainment
5. AETN Asia (Lifetime, History, CI, FYI)
I think only Aljazeera has Malaysia as its regional office.
*
I presume Singapore being a regional hub and have a lot of infrastructures is why it atracted a lot of these companies. The talent pool there is vast means finding staffs are easy.

It seems like Transvision is doing the same, too.

Last week, SCM and SCM Legends has been replaced with Wion TV and Techstorm as a part of a transition period.
Now Fox Life, Channel V and Star Chinese Channel have been removed from the line-up as of today. As of now, viewers are watching the temporary channel, Celestial Movies and MTV Live HD, which was broadcast in SD until today. Only one week left until all channels have been replaced completely.

Meanwhile, several new channels have been confirmed for replacement, one of them is MyToonz, HorizonSports and SPI's Dizi channel. I think the last one will attract many Turkish drama fans in Indonesia.
*
So Transvision didn't even wait til 1st October to remove some of the channels?

Nope, they already removed some of the channels since last week. BabyFirst and Mola TV Free were also the casualties in this case.
I guess they weren't avid of enjoying the free preview of Mola TV's contents. Which was a shame, because they just renewed their contract to air this season's Premier League.
*
Other than Transvision, are there any other pay-tv provider in Indonesia?

Not only that, it's very confusing.

If you wanted Serie A, you need BeIN Sports. Premier League? Mola TV. Champions League? Vidio.

The problem is that broadcasting rights are very expensive if bought altogether by only one pay-TV platform. So platforms depend on content providers to carry the rights to be broadcast in that area. And the carriage is dependant on each provider, so you can't get one with the other.

Do you know what else is monopolized? Our internet provider. Out of all the internet companies that delivered, only one is available in all areas, and that's state-owned Indihome, which is notorious for its horrid internet speed and service. Much like TM's Unifi internet. And I really hated Indihome so bad, because that's the ONLY provider available in my house.
*
License being seperated between pay-tv companies were supposed to make the market competitive. But yeah, in the real world, sometimes it's just introduce another layer of hassle to the end user instead

In any case, Astro (alongside Unifi TV) and Transvision is actually being quite fast with their Fox replacement channel announcements. I've checked around in Hardwarezone Singapore and they are still in the dark on what more Singtel and Starhub will be adding. Tried to see what Truevision are doing in Thailand, but I can't read Thai... 😅

Ah damn, SpoTV won't be showing all races from WSBK. Only the main one. Supersport and Supersport 3000 are only shown on SpoTV Now

Hi guys,
Need yall expert feedback/opinion
Can i purchase ultra box without having tied up to contract?
As now parents package is basic mustika + sport which cost around 99, hence not eligible for 'free' ultrabox upgrade.
So what are my option to purchase the ultrabox, ?

Thanks in advance
*
Upgrade your parent's package, and then add on a multiroom option for RM50? Choose the plug and play box, and then you can move your anywhere, not tied to your parent's house

We all don't want to spend more money on Astro, especially during the pandemic now. And somemore many move to OTT streaming services or illegal TV boxes...
That's why those Go Shop slot appears out of random on Astro in house channels from time to time, to make up for the profit loss. That's one of the example la.
*
Lepas tu komplen when picture quality blur or stutter. 🤭

But honestly Astro should find a way to lower their prices. If they can make great deals during this time where people are short on money, then they will have more loyal customers going forward. Right now it's throttling our fast emptying wallet.
