I hope that ViacomCBS will launch Paramount+ in Malaysia as "Paramount+", not "Paramount+ Voot".   Fyi, Voot is an Indian OTT platform like Hotstar. It features content produced by Viacom18 (and we know it as the owner of Colors channels).

And I also realise that all movies on Showcase Movies, even on the VOD platform, have been speed up by 4%.
Meaning, some viewers may realise that the overall playback speed of the movie (even on VOD one) appear to be slightly faster than the original movie, and the audio pitch is slightly higher as well.
Because the playback speed has increased, you'll realise that the overall movie length appears to be few minutes shorter than the original movie length you see elsewhere. Do note that it is not necessarily due of censorship (cut scenes).

This phenomenon is also known as "PAL speedup", where broadcasters will increase the playback speed of the 24fps content to match with 25fps PAL TV broadcast standards. You can Google more about this, if you're interested to know more.

Unfortunately it seems to me that Astro's QC team seems doesn't care much about this, and use back the same PAL speedup copy of the movie (that was meant for TV broadcasts) into VOD platform as well.

Not just Showcase Movies channel. The rest of English movie channels on Astro like HBO, HBO Family, HBO Hits,... are all having this PAL speedup too.
However, only a few handful of channels where the movie playback at original speed (no speedup), such as tvN Movies and Celestial Movies, therefore some viewers may notice some "frame freeze" at least once on every one second.

This didn't affect it - and most of the movies on Netflix are running at the original framerate (23.976fps).



(TL;DR: On Disney+ Hotstar, some movies has PAL speedup however some movies didn't have PAL speedup. However, on Netflix, all movies follow the original frame rate.)

Also this means they don't have to exit the Astro Ultra Box ecosystem, especially those that have multiple media boxes hooked up to different HDMI inputs

i notice that there is a serious  audio issue on some astros channels, Many channels hv  high audio and many are very low! HGTV cinemax,VJ tv have very high audio levels,while showtime,Suntv and Sun music have very low levels.These are the channels I watch and its very irritating to adjust my HTS!Can any of you check and update pls,thanks

check the audio. don't use dolby 5.1.
it's pita because netflix, hotstar app inside ultrabox and androidtv defaults to 5.1, and have to manually re-set for each movie/episode.
