Insider info regarding Max on Astro: - Movies Pack subscribers, HBO GO will become the Max Standard Plan automatically on Nov 19, 2024. - Link Astro ID to HBO GO by Nov 19, 2024, as there will be some errors at Astro's system end if you do not do so. - New Max subscribers via Astro after Nov 19 will not enjoy the streaming experience until maintenance ends Jan/Feb 2025. Alternatively, selected HBO/Max content will continue to be available On Demand. - There is no Ultimate Plan upgrade for a few months until February 2025, just a Standard Plan offering at launch. The same thing happens for Disney+ Hotstar's Basic to Premium Plan. "Time constraints" is one of the issues they say; Astro also prioritizes the newest pack offerings to be announced between December 2024 and January 2025. Armab liked this post

QUOTE(joshhd @ Nov 5 2024, 11:01 PM) Long story short, it seems obvious that Astro is the one deliberately make 8TV (CH148) and TV9 (CH149) channels to become even blurrier and poorer in picture quality since early August 2024, as a way to "convince" those broadcasters to pay fees to carry the channels in HD, in the expense of worsen the viewer's viewing experience when watching Media Prima channels (8TV and TV9) on Astro platform. 8TV has been consistently the second most watched TV channel in the country (and No. 1 channel in the Chinese category - According to the ratings, the ratings of all Astro Chinese channels combined is still less than the rating 8TV has - which have recorded 50%++ ratings consistently for the category) ever since Media Prima repositioned 8TV as 100% Chinese channel and made TV9 showing a lot of Wow Shop back then.Strangely, this poorer Standard Definition (SD) picture quality only affects 8TV (CH148) and TV9 (CH149) but not other SD channels. As a result, 8TV (CH148) and TV9 (CH149) now is the SD quality channels on Astro with the worst picture quality ever. All Media Prima channels (TV3, NTV7, 8TV and TV9) has always been in SD quality (not HD quality) on Astro platform. Astro be like: Since they (the broadcaster) finds that SD quality is "acceptable", hence we will make it look "unacceptable". It is a clear sign of Astro desperate to look for revenue elsewhere... TV9 has more viewers since they adjusted their lineup to mainly movies, Islamic programmes, children programmes and some repeats, (when compared to Wow Shop era), but the ratings is still no where near the channel early years. Media Prima now has > 50% share on TV (According to Media Prima quarterly reports), TV3 alone already have 47% share on Malay market - that's probably the reason why Astro don't dare to reduce TV3 quality. I seriously think that Astro is purposely reducing the quality so that they can choose Astro channels (therefore bring more revenue to the financially precautious company) or worst case, chasing away viewers to somewhere else permanently (MYTV, Unifi TV, Tonton), causing Astro even more trouble. QUOTE(joshhd @ Nov 5 2024, 10:21 PM) Then yes, Premier League is bundled in Wah Pack... Well, I have raised it to the team and hopefully is just a one time issue.I believe it is a valid concern where since your subscription has Premier League, then you should be able to watch all Premier League matches just like before the sports channels revamp occur. I suggest you raise this concern by writing an email to wecare@astro.com.my. Reason because, you were able to watch all Premier League matches before the sports channels revamp, and their revamp should not mean that you would "sacrifice" some of your viewings of Premier League matches by not providing access to the Astro Grandstand channel. |

QUOTE(smileguy @ Nov 6 2024, 05:45 PM) dont blame tvs pls, u put rubbish in and rubbish comes out, from day one asttro PQ sucks, thats why no TV shops will dare demo astro signals, even the most expensive tv wl fail to deliver a fair astro picture They purposely use the tactic of giving a loooong explanation of "irrelevant yet technically true" information, where usually non-tech persons would get distracted from the question/complaint being asked. And then at the end of the email, it gives a brief information that they are "actively in discussion to encourage this transition". So it seems to me that their efforts to Media Prima to "encourage this transition" (migrate to HD) isn't progressing much...? Media Prima channels on Astro is already in SD quality, and they make the SD quality even worse by making 2 of their channels to become blurrier and poorer in picture quality to further "encourage the transition". They've been doing that since August 2024, and until now still the same s**t picture quality, hence such intention is pretty obvious to me already. I won't be surprised that if Media Prima still refuse to pay for HD fees, Astro will make all 4 of their channels to become blurrier and poorer in picture quality. And then when customers complaint to Astro about the bad picture quality on Media Prima channels, they will tell you the bedtime story about NJOI transition lah, LCD TV, LED TV nonsense. If Media Prima still don't want to pay for HD fees, sooner or later I think Astro will tamper Media Prima channels further by placing on-screen advertisements during regular programming (like the one you see on left corner of the screen one) as frequently as possible, that upsells Astro related products Conclusion, Astro just want Media Prima to pay for HD fees, and they will continue to "fight" for it. Viewer's satisfaction in watching Media Prima channels on Astro platform was never their priority anyway, because essentially Astro can still survive even without Media Prima channels on board.
