Who else got the new firmware update dated last 30th July? Still doesn't have offline download for On Demand though. rolleyes.gif

I've received the new 30th July update. But I feel like the software bugs and glitches are still present.
Like as if no difference compared to previous versions.

Send feedback to Astro Beta Programme to highlight the issue to them is like a waste of time. It's like, a feedback that is once sent, nothing happens.
yet I am the one that experience the software bugs and glitches, in exchange with whatever free channel previews (like Super Pack Plus 4 back in around June).

As an Astro beta tester myself, I feel like my feedback to them aren't being appreciated and being heard by the beta software team. So disappointed.

Not to mention the subtitles option (for live TV) over new Go still not available, unless it's hard-coded.

The first batch for beta 1.2 testing is only open to those landed properties in Klang Valley and not condominiums even if you have an individual dish. Astro will open the 2nd batch of 1.2 beta soon to condominium customers.

Anyone know where to find an astro installer? Need one to help fix my dish/cable. Calling astro is too slow.

What LNB did they change into? Got photo of how's the LNB look like? And, did they take back the old LNB, or they let you keep it?

I just got the confirmation from Astro installer.

Upon swapping to Astro Ultra box (4K UHD box), your LNB will be swapped to DCSS type and no longer the Dual LNB (Universal) that requires 2 cables to be connected from your satellite dish to your Astro box. DCSS type of LNB allows you to be able to receive/record multiple channels and even able to connect to multiple set-top-box around your homes, with only one single cable from the satellite dish instead of multiple messy cables connect directly to your dual/quad LNB. This could really solve many technical and installation problems faced by installers, especially when the customer's premise find that laying 2 or more cables to satellite dish is inconvenient, especially with concealed cabling, extra rewiring job to do, etc.

So yes, only 1 cable needed if you're an Astro Ultra Box user, thanks to DCSS LNB.

However, if you are currently using SatCR type, then it will remain and continue to use as it is for your Astro Ultra box (means they won't swap to DCSS type for you).

And yea, new set top box comes with new remote control. But the installer might take it back when you swap your box. But why take it back when you find it still in good condition anyway?
If your current Astro remote control still working as usual, tell the installer to let you keep your existing remote control, so that the new remote control, can take it as spare remote control, or you may use it when your old remote control is faulty due to wear and tear.

Oh yea... Forgot to share to you guys earlier... I've received the email from Sirius TV regarding trial participation.

Here how's a quick look on how the form look like:

In summary, if you agree to pay a RM90 installation fee to the installer, Sirius TV will be providing you a set-top-box (STB), 65cm satellite dish (same size as Astro's) as well as 12 months subscription (yeah, no monthly fees for 12 months). If you disagree to pay that RM90, you will be excluded from the trial.

Basically, you pay a one-off RM90 and you'll get early access to newly introduced Sirius TV's service for 12 months, and they'll provide you the set-top-box and satellite dish.
Because it is a newly introduced "trial" service, the number of channels will be 30+ (according to Sirius TV website), and don't expect the channel offerings to be as premium and the content as much as what Astro offers. Do expect that it may have some service issues, software glitches, and some other minor issues, which would gradually solves from time to time.

You could say, it's similar like Astro Beta Programme (get early access to test and experience new stuffs). But Sirius TV need to pay one-off RM90 now, cuz it's a new service after all.
From 13th month onwards, how will be the monthly fee like, or there is option to not paying any monthly fees? Time will tell.

Channel list is not publicly released yet... And they haven't start the service to trial users yet, so we're not sure what are the channels will be offered officially.

Introducing, the Astro SIM card.
This SIM card is meant to replace the use of regular sized smart card. So this is not a SIM card to access to cellular network, and Astro is not becoming a mobile telco.
So please don't try to insert in to your phone, or cut it into micro/nano SIM size to insert it in to your smartphone...
But if you insist to try, let us know what happens. biggrin.gif
