Only Fox Sports have pre-race coverage. Astro just start as the world feed start. Altho I do email them complaining that they can't cut off the first 5 minutes of the broadcast and start on top of the hour.

I have no clue. For the previous race they started at the correct time, for example if the session is at 8pm, coverage will start at 7:55pm. But for last weekend, every session started on top of the hour, cutting off that precious 5 minutes

Depends on if the feed has ads that are not relevant to the products. For example, Astro delays SPOTV for 2~3 minutes to remove SPOTV2 ads, while UnifiTV does not because they also carry SPOTV2.

Also Astro is WWE's exclusive partner here. So we can rule that out of Mola too

They showed a few ad break during free practice tho. So it might be shown during the race in the future.

IIRC LPF also would affect what Astro would delay. for example I once asked why the WWE network is delayed by 1 hour for non live broadcast, and 5 minutes for live. And I actually got a reply from the person in charge of their WWE programme (and not a customer service). They said it's to comply with govt guidelines. IIRC there was actually one time WWE were cut by Astro, which is during WWE's hall of face ceremony a few years back. In the live broadcast, a fan actually ran into the ceremony and tried to injure Bret Hart before he was subdued. That was cut from the Astro broadcast 5 minutes later

The blu-ray listing shows it as Anamorphic 21:9, so maybe Hotstar version is a special web streaming version that Disney made from the original print to fit a more consumer friendly 16:9 ratio

I just wish that Astro can introduce Ala carte for channels. For example I want to subscribe to NHK premium, but I don't want the whole pack

I wonder if SPOTV is sending their broadcast from Korea to SEA with variable bit rates, as they keep changing from looking sharp to a bit blurry on both Astro and UnifiTV

Oh I just realised my current plan (Value Pack 4) is RM107. Seems like if I change to the new Sports Pack: Primary with Sports, it will be cheaper at RM90.

No. Any streaming are using Astro's bandwidth. NHK is only sending one signal through the satellite to Astro. It's up to Astro on how to distribute them. This is also I presume the reason NHK pulled out of Unifi TV earlier this year, as Unifi TV is IPTV based

Like all broadcast, satellite. Also NHK/Japanese TVs are not actually that tech savvy, and usually have weird licensing quirks.

That's why I always use "wecare@astro.com.my" for anything right now. I had the same issue, calling their helpline says to use Whatsapp. I don't really want to use that so I just use the email and hey presto, I got what I wanted

I just use smarttube on my smart tv. It does not only skip adverts, it also skip in video sponsored messages

Cost. Every little savings count for these companies. And it's not just these small companies. Even worldwide ones are guilty too. Our office's Dell that we bought two years ago only comes with 100mbps ethernet port, even tho the same model that we bought 5 years prior has gigabit.

With how many people are using wifi now, companies tend to skimp and downgrade the ethernet port forst, since not many customers would notice it
