QUOTE(xander83 @ Oct 25 2021, 02:44 AM) Even missed out grid pre race interviews as well Only Fox Sports have pre-race coverage. Astro just start as the world feed start. Altho I do email them complaining that they can't cut off the first 5 minutes of the broadcast and start on top of the hour. I suggest you guys complain too

QUOTE(xander83 @ Oct 25 2021, 07:31 AM) Complain no point because they are the only one able to broadcast to the masses here Unless mass boycott happens nothing will ever change for Astro Complaining is doing your part as a consumer. Wether or not they listen, that is another issue.

QUOTE(joshhd @ Oct 25 2021, 01:37 PM) Why would they cut off the first 5 minutes or so? I have no clue. For the previous race they started at the correct time, for example if the session is at 8pm, coverage will start at 7:55pm. But for last weekend, every session started on top of the hour, cutting off that precious 5 minutes

QUOTE(doubleM2 @ Oct 27 2021, 09:25 AM) Currently, both Astro ASSP5 and unifi Sports 1 air live matches of the UFC Dana White's Contender Series. unifi TV subscribers get scammed as the supposed 'live' feed of the UFC matches is actually delayed between 3-5 mins due to the interruption of unifi TV ads. Depends on if the feed has ads that are not relevant to the products. For example, Astro delays SPOTV for 2~3 minutes to remove SPOTV2 ads, while UnifiTV does not because they also carry SPOTV2. TL;DR - It goes both ways

QUOTE(izwanikhsan @ Oct 27 2021, 09:20 PM) MOLA TV is coming to Malaysia but surely no EPL since astro is having exclusive broadcast rights - https://www.lowyat.net/2021/256824/mola-tv-...-soon-malaysia/Also Astro is WWE's exclusive partner here. So we can rule that out of Mola too QUOTE(indran1412 @ Oct 27 2021, 01:24 PM) Yes, you're correct but F1 youtube channnel only covers the pre race interviews. After the interview ends, the live feed also ends. There is like 15-20 minutes of pre race stuffs like opening ceremony and pit lane views that neither source covers. For the last US GP, Astro starts exactly as the race starts. It didn't even show the formation lap. It used to show all but now no more. Maybe I'm spoiled too much and complaining but for the price we pay, I expect better view time that current one. The only Good thing now is that there is no ad break. They showed a few ad break during free practice tho. So it might be shown during the race in the future. This post has been edited by linkinstreet: Oct 28 2021, 11:39 AM

QUOTE(weareblahs @ Oct 28 2021, 02:21 PM) Due to that, I started to think about: Does Astro delayed MTV by 1 hour just because of too much screen to see? IIRC LPF also would affect what Astro would delay. for example I once asked why the WWE network is delayed by 1 hour for non live broadcast, and 5 minutes for live. And I actually got a reply from the person in charge of their WWE programme (and not a customer service). They said it's to comply with govt guidelines. IIRC there was actually one time WWE were cut by Astro, which is during WWE's hall of face ceremony a few years back. In the live broadcast, a fan actually ran into the ceremony and tried to injure Bret Hart before he was subdued. That was cut from the Astro broadcast 5 minutes later

QUOTE(John Chaser @ Oct 29 2021, 09:38 PM) So I decided to check Maze Runner under Showcase movies and noticed the aspect ratio is different from the one shown on Disney Plus. The one on Disney Plus is 16:9 and the one on Showcase is 2.39 : 1 I was thinking the one in Disney Plus is zoomed in but on closer inspection, it's actually showing more. Curious to see if the Showcase version is the censored UK version. The blu-ray listing shows it as Anamorphic 21:9, so maybe Hotstar version is a special web streaming version that Disney made from the original print to fit a more consumer friendly 16:9 ratio

I just wish that Astro can introduce Ala carte for channels. For example I want to subscribe to NHK premium, but I don't want the whole pack

I wonder if SPOTV is sending their broadcast from Korea to SEA with variable bit rates, as they keep changing from looking sharp to a bit blurry on both Astro and UnifiTV

So 20 devices but I assume only one or two concurrent viewing at one time for Astro Go?

Oh I just realised my current plan (Value Pack 4) is RM107. Seems like if I change to the new Sports Pack: Primary with Sports, it will be cheaper at RM90.

QUOTE(xander83 @ Nov 9 2021, 06:16 PM) Do check carefully as it rm30 on top of the pack hence more expensive at rm120 Oh thank you. Didn't notice that Edit: After checking, it's RM60 for the base pack + RM30 for the sports pack, so it's RM90 This post has been edited by linkinstreet: Nov 9 2021, 07:10 PM

QUOTE(Zot @ Nov 16 2021, 09:36 AM) On the streaming side perhaps the other service providers to not want Astro to consume their bandwidth by allowing program streaming through their services, I guess. No. Any streaming are using Astro's bandwidth. NHK is only sending one signal through the satellite to Astro. It's up to Astro on how to distribute them. This is also I presume the reason NHK pulled out of Unifi TV earlier this year, as Unifi TV is IPTV based

QUOTE(Zot @ Nov 16 2021, 11:41 AM) How NHK feed to Unifi in the beginning? Like all broadcast, satellite. Also NHK/Japanese TVs are not actually that tech savvy, and usually have weird licensing quirks.

QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Nov 22 2021, 01:25 AM) Phone Support recording: outright flat deny continuing. all deferred to use Whatsapp. If only those top brass of ASTRO hit roadblock and only had to use their own Phone Support like the rest of us. Then only they know what worms they had uncanned. it's stupid and ridiculous that the whole world world falling into the hand of facebook incorporated. some outright replaced their support with whatsapp. That's why I always use "wecare@astro.com.my" for anything right now. I had the same issue, calling their helpline says to use Whatsapp. I don't really want to use that so I just use the email and hey presto, I got what I wanted

QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Nov 26 2021, 12:44 AM) and who decided to make such an inflexible networking set up. have to factory reset to switch between cable and wifi? and even if maxing out 4K does not require hundreds of Mbps, but 100Mbps Ethernet jack in this age? Cost. Every little savings count for these companies. And it's not just these small companies. Even worldwide ones are guilty too. Our office's Dell that we bought two years ago only comes with 100mbps ethernet port, even tho the same model that we bought 5 years prior has gigabit. With how many people are using wifi now, companies tend to skimp and downgrade the ethernet port forst, since not many customers would notice it
