Compare with the previous software, the missing settings and features on beta v1.1 are:
1. Change aspect ratio button - Unable to temporary change aspect ratio, as the button will open "TV Settings" where once u change there, it will apply to all channels.
2. Recording Preferences
Review Buffer depth, recording start time and recording end time extension, Hard Disk management mode
3. For PVR, you can't skip 15 mins by pressing fast forward again and again.
4. Programme reminder
4. Block channels
5. Set Favourite Channels
6. Change channel banner duration, screensaver
7. Tuner Diagnostics, Connection Info (to check transponder frequency)
8. Transponder Scan

New settings to highlight:
1. Now allow 1080p output
2. Separate digital audio output (HDMI Audio, S/PDIF) and Dolby Digital Plus.
If you previously experience "no sound when watch HD channels" issue on your TV when set to Dolby 5.1 output, well, it is now solved in this new update.
3. Experimental cloud DVR
Some channels allow you to "Play from Start", where the channel video will load from Internet instead of satellite, so that you can watch the parts you missed earlier.
4. ABR streaming on VOD content
Adaptive bitrate streaming. Slow internet, poor quality. Fast internet, good quality.

*Don't panic. Now it's just beta testing version, means it's pre-released and unfinished. Those missing features might come back in the final version.

For new features under no 3, the experimental cloud dvr  let’s say the tv show starts earlier/ends later than the time indicated by the TV guide( Astro pvr would only start/stop record when its time) will I be able to catch up on what I missed ?
*

I'm not too entirely sure about this, but as far as I know, no you can't. You can only "Play from Start" (cloud DVR) on the current programme.
If you ask Astro, they'll likely advise you to schedule future recording, so that it'll record your desired programme next time.

Hi guy, did you experience signal frequently not stable around 35 - 40%? Occassionally experience 1 sec 0% signal, and then back 40% signal.

Is it stb issued or dish LNB issued? Or totally old dish problem? Got try before do slightly alignment of the dish but only manage 45% max.

By the way, the weather is good conditions.
*

Remember to check the condition of the cable as well, especially the F connector. Make sure it is properly tighten too.

Until the actual launch is happen, I think we can just don't bother about it for now.

noob question ..

normal astro and pvr astro use the same dish or not ?
*

Same dish. Just the LNB is different.
For standard installation, it'll require 2 separate cables to connect to the dish. So it'll have additional wiring and minor drilling works, depending on the cabling layout.

Or you can opt for SatCR, where you can connect your 1 existing cable to the dish. Meaning, no need drilling and lay extra cables, just change to the SatCR LNB will do. But SatCR will have additional one-off fee of RM50 (not sure if they increase price or not, do confirm with Astro if interested.

Anyone on the Astro BETA program? For some reason, today my box can't connect to my network (wifi and LAN also same) And now I can't watch and on demand titles.
*

Me.
Hmm, you tried power off and on your Astro box and see if it solves the problem?
I have to say, this beta software does occur weird issues like this, and it usually solves once you reboot your STB.

If power off and on is not a convenient option for you, try reboot your Astro box by press and hold the power button for few seconds on the front panel of your Astro box, until the LED panel shows "BOOT".

In some extent, good also la... I hope Media Prima, especially its TV channels to improve its content offerings to viewers, as well as making it a platform where many Malaysians would want to watch their TV channels again in the future, just like the good old days.... biggrin.gif

But to think again, even if satellite TV boxes are banned for the reason of using non certified equipment, do you seriously think that there is no other electronic equipment or devices that are non certified by SIRIM and MCMC in our homes now? Why not MCMC announce that they'll strictly enforce to other equipment as well, such as karaoke systems, speakers, and basically those electronics you see on Pasar Road in Pudu. If MCMC is so damn capable and so free, nothing to do, and so much money, they might as well go crackdown every single electronics in online shopping sites like Lazada, Shopee and even check every single parcels from other countries that has electronics in it to see if it's certified by MCMC or not.

Because, nobody cares. dry.gif And Astro ain't gonna care about those non-certified equipment that are not related to their business cuz it won't benefit them, but the use of foreign satellite TV boxes would impact their monopoly pay TV business, so for them to scare Malaysians in the news like this, is a common business practice for them for many years already.

I hope MCMC can focus on more important things that matters all Malaysians, such as Internet, mobile cellular services, and those monopoly telecommunication companies and service providers like Astro and TM. Don't waste time to make Malaysians lives to become harder.

If a user uses specific non certified equipment (e.g. wireless CCTV, cordless phones) where its operating frequencies range that is not allocated to Malaysian allocated frequencies, and causes interference to other users and services, then yes, it is right for them to take action to those who causes that due to the use of non certified equipment. But, not all non certified equipment tend to interfere other devices. As long the non-certified equipment does not causes harmful interference to other telecommunication services and/or would severely harms the user, then MCMC should just stay away from it and focus on other things. Stop using this kind of "illegal" satellite TV nonsense to dictate how Malaysians should watch TV. Satellite TV dishes installs at homes (including Astro) are receive-only, and it does not transmit, so it won't have interfere other telecommunication and wireless services.

Safety issues? No guarantees that it will be safe and might causes electric shock or explode? Come on, other countries don't have safety regulations on electronics similar like SIRIM or MCMC is it? What makes Malaysia so special then? Or this is just to benefit local TV providers like Astro so they use this kind of excuse? As you can see, Astro's spokesperson talks a lot about this. Obviously they "collaborate" with MCMC to make this kind of news to scare Malaysians so that there is a chance that we would indirectly resort or stick to Astro service.
https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019...dish-crackdown/

In the future, Astro will still continue to do this kind of stunt once in a while, so that the media will remind Malaysians to not use illegal satellite TV services, and expecting us to go for Astro, and pay for their services. Afraid of losing business lah.... The more Astro trying to do this kind of stunts, the more Malaysians will stay away from Astro. It's not that we will die without Astro also. dry.gif

And mind you, not allowing the people to receive foreign satellite TV channels via private-installed satellite dishes are actually one of the tactics that restricts freedom of expression (human rights) used in some other countries, hence in my opinion, the people should have the rights to choose their own sources to obtain information including from TV channels, and has the choice to obtain it without any government controls like censorship, be it if it's news or entertainment.

iQiYi is not directly from China broadcast, right?
So it means that astro use their licence of iQiYi and create own programs channels? confused.gif

By the way, the channel num is 300, which is previously XiYue.
So that means Njoi user can free to watch this channel also?

Recycle is always more cheaper cost than new launching one..
Luckily don't called it as "iXuHuang" (you know what I means..) devil.gif

No. Only Astro customers can watch it. Njoi customer can't watch it at all.
So it is a loss for Njoi users that they've lost 1 Mandarin channel from Njoi channel lineup.

Maybe they'll add it as part of Njoi prepaid channels offering near future.

I do notice that iQiYi channel on Astro does show some end-2018 programmes, and some is just few months old programmes.
All content from the iQiYi channel are all iQiYi Originals content, no outsource from other China TV networks like Hunan TV, Zhejiang TV all those.

The current STB is capable for 4K? Or is it already 4K STB? Didn't know about that.

No...
Astro will be launching 4K UHD service to customers soon, maybe this coming September or October.
Customers will have to upgrade to new 4K UHD box to watch UHD channels.
