I have a win7 pro license.. and few years ago I upgraded to win10 under their free upgrade program... and have been using it ever since.

Now im changing a new ssd drive, and therefore need to reinstall my windows. I am just wondering if I am still entitle for the win10, or I still must jump back to win7 because the win10 free upgrade has ended 2 years ago?

Please advice. Thanks

Hi is this really confirmed? Because I am asking the guy who fix my pc to install windows 10, (with my win7 licenses ), but he said the free win10 upgrade already over, and therefore cannot be done. Should I firmly ask him to install win10 for me?

if the replacement part is just the ssd, yes you can firmly ask him to install w10 pro.

the digital license from w10 free upgrade is valid for as long as your pc can last. i have done many times of fresh installs with different new ssds since the free upgrade.

there is no need to use your w7 key. skip all the product number requests during w10 installation. once it's done, connect to the internet and it will be activated automatically.

Basically Microsoft knows your hardware ID / motherboard & CPU ID.
As long as you don't change those things (or they died), the license will be automatically applied no matter how many times you reinstall W10 or change storage.

By using EaseUS Partition, you can migrating W10 to SSD without fresh install.
