QUOTE(silver5453 @ Apr 28 2018, 12:44 AM) well i'm currently working in china for 4 months. nice , now i know which vpn is good for short term you can try expressVPN or turboVPN for long term, im using the paid service for expressVPN so far so good. whatsapp sometimes works, but most of the time it doesnt. FB doesnt work at all. QUOTE(hushymushy @ Apr 28 2018, 12:45 AM) If u use data roaming its ok...local sim not sure...coz i just use office line with data roaming i will use data roaming, but they will use the local telco's network right? ur office line connect to which local telco? All fb, messenger and everything function per normal QUOTE(FenomX @ Apr 28 2018, 12:49 AM) I am typing this while in Shenzhen. noted on ExpressVPN Whataspp can only send text, images and video are sometimes disabled. Connection drop. Im using ExpressVPN, it is bloody good, will auto-reconnect in the event of connection drop. Pay for it, free VPN is slow, might as well dont use it. u say whatsapp can send text, thats all i need actually. Will connection drop even if send text? |

QUOTE(isr25 @ Apr 28 2018, 06:49 AM) I travel to China twice recently, and in both times I roamed using China Unicom/China Mobile via Celcom & Maxis (I have 2 lines). I can use my FB app and Whatsapp with no issues. Thanksss. Very useful info I think the issue here is if you use local China simcards? You won’t face any issues if you roam using your own number from Malaysia. |

QUOTE(GTA5 @ Apr 28 2018, 01:32 PM) Just came back from vacation in China. Thanks for the feedback!Tried and tested two VPNs that confirm can work there. Vypr VPN and TunnelBear VPN. Express VPN also can use (and the best VPN in China actually) , but unfortunately I can't use cos I already registered for account before this trip and they detected my device and the free trial is over. Vypr VPN would be more consistent than TunnelBear. However, do note that both VPNs have free data limit (1gb and 500mb respectively). If you use it for basic daily WhatsApp / Facebook / Gmail / Google, should be enough for your vacation / trip. Do note that I bought a China Unicom sim card to use there. For roaming with local Maxis / Digi / etc carriers not sure whether can bypass the firewall there. Seems like can from previous replies. Edit: Opera VPN and Turbo VPN doesn't work at all. |
