1) Asus zenbook 331UN
2) HP Envy 13.3

Should I look for slim & light laptop or big screen laptop but heavy(age catching up, need to see thing in bigger size)

UX331UN and Envy 13. Keep in mind that both laptops don't have good cooling due to small chassis. RAM is soldered too. Also MX150 used in both laptops are the low power variant MX150 (8-10W) which is just slightly faster than 940MZ GDDR5.

Reliability mainly depends on luck and how you use/keep it. Both have similar pros and cons.

Have any good notebook to recommend ? Looking for Notebook that can last for approx. 5 years. Notebook that hv 8GB, Graphic Card(should opt for what graphic card?), SSD,FHD Display 13" / 14" / 15"
Budget below RM4K. For home use, normally use Microsoft office for documentation & presentation, watching online movie, back-up/ storage for my photos & documentations. My daug will use for her school projects. May bring out to use occasionally while killing time waiting for my daug.

I prefer light notebook but worried abt the cooling system. In dilemma, prefer big screen also for better view in preparing documentation & analysis and video.

First, is dGPU really necessary to you? Do you prefer a good display or an entry level IPS is enough? The usage you mentioned above isn't that intensive, even an i3 ULV is enough. If you play games then you may need a KBL-R i5. What game do you play though? Every laptop has different thermals so check reviews.

'Good picks' have some flaws like using entry level IPS, build quality not 'excellent' but still good. Don't get me wrong, every laptop has its own cons/flaws, no laptop is perfect. That is just a whitelist I made so if you have special requirements, don't look at it, ask for suggestions.

I'm not tech savy... Unsure wat GPU should I take i3, i5 or i7, 7th Gen or 8th Gen. Initially I budget about RM2K-3K for the laptop. After visited the IT stores, most of the laptops RM3K+. Thinking of getting a laptop that wont slow down after 1-2 years later and I no need to do upgrade later on. What I being told that should get 8GB Ram, Full HD display, Graphic Card and SSD will speed up the laptop performance.

Entry level IPS: low max brightness, low sRGB coverage, some have OKish contrast
Good IPS: usually >250 nits max brightness, high sRGB coverage. Some have >400 nits max brightness with very high contrast and very high Adobe RGB coverage

Entry IPS and Good IPS pricing is it very much difference ? If pricing about RM200 will consider Good IPS. Otherwisem entry IPS acceptable. Can name some modesl with entry IPS and Good IPS that meet budget ?

1. Acer Swift 3 15 with MX150: entry level IPS
2. Asus UX331UN: good IPS, cooling issue
3. HP Envy 13 with LP MX150: good IPS, cooling issue
4. Lenovo Yoga 520 with 8250U+940MX: entry level touchscreen IPS, needs RAM upgrade
5. Lenovo Ideapad 320s 14 with 8250U+920MX: entry level IPS, needs RAM+SSD upgrades
6. Acer Aspire 5 with 8550U+MX150: entry level IPS, need RAM upgrade, potential QC issues (Aspire is entry level consumer line), not that portable (2.2kg, 21mm height)

If age catching up, big screen is first priority.
You will regret it if choose small one.

I fall for Envy 13 8GB but pricey RM4499 exceed my budget..

Therefore opt for 2nd option big screen 15 inch.

Hv used it for 4-5 few hours, thumbup.gif Didn’t feel heat & quiet. The touch pad silky smooth...totally forgotten I hv a wireless mouse to standby (my old laptop I always use mouse). The display colour satisfactory(Envy 13 display better-colour more sharp). Wat u pay, tats Wat u get. rclxm9.gif

U may got to the store to have touch & feel and request seller to play a video to test the sound system. Envy 13 better comparing UX331UN. If u higher budget would recommend Envy 13.

I went to the Lowyat 2nd floor, Lenovo shop and observed, but didn't get the attractive offer like you. The idepad 320s price is only stated as their brochure.

15 inch 320s , 4G ram RM3099 only
Luckily I still haven't purchased yet, still observing

hp still sucks, always have been, lenovo is now in the same quality as hp so if you want quality you're left with dell/asus. Some smaller brands do have quality too.
