by far the best available laptop for mid-to-entry-high gaming

the one that turn me off just the ram,4gb is quite low on modern laptop

if you want 8gb you have to add RM200+ more for the upgrade, doing so make it not the best performance per buck

Thanks for the feedback, HeartR0bber smile.gif

There is a reason why we use 4GB RAMs in our laptops actually. Most of the users would upgrade their RAMs upon purchasing the laptops.

- If you are happy with 8GB, another 4GB stick will do just fine
- If you need 16GB and above, you would want to sell the 4GB stick and buy two 8GB sticks. Selling two 4GB sticks would be tedious if you are going to need two 8GB sticks smile.gif

If you notice, most of our embedded RAM laptops would come with much better RAM configurations for the obvious reasons. happy.gif

I hope that helps.

but still they should have options whether we want the 8GB ram... in other countries like Philippines / USA / Singapore... theirs come with the 8GB ram...

Not sure whether because our currency exchange sux that why Asus gives us 4GB ram for the highest spec in FX504...

another thing was I'm kinda upset with the lost of in build card reader...

as well as the screen... since other countries comes with 120 refresh rate but ours only 60...

then i only notice that GL503 Hero (has more USBs ports and USB TYpe C available / Internal card reader / etc... ) but the difference is RM500 for all this...

KBL-R ULVs cannot hold their all core turbo clock unless you increase the PL1 limit (need a good cooling, undervolting and maybe repaste too), but some models have locked firmware+BIOS, meaning that you can't touch the PL1 limit via Intel XTU.

CFL-H also cannot hold their all core turbo clock (if you're lucky 8300H can hit 3.9GHz all core at <45W) but with undervolting, they can. Except for 8750H/other i7 CFL-H which may need slight PL1 increase

Too bad the base model comes with only a TN panel and if I want the IPS panel I have to add another 500, tho I get an i7 in the process. Just hope ASUS are more flexible with options.

My laptop arrived yesterday.
The speakers on this laptop is decent after some tuning (It's disappointing out of the box). DTS audio app really sucks compared to audiowizard on my n56vz, no presets at all. My 5 year old asus n56vz multimedia series has way better sound and richness (without the subwoofer).
Also, 4GB of ram is definitely not enough, will need to upgrade.

If don't put side by side with IPS panel actually looks quite decent.

fx504 comes with SSHD.
IMO just go for the latest model fx504, a 120GB m.2 nvme ssd only cost around RM260~300+ to upgrade.
Plus you will be getting 8th gen processor.

the price for FX503 is quite similar to FX504... better get FX504 (because of 8th generation... at least can future proof furthe the laptop)

totally agree on the multimedia disappointment.. since it's 7.1 (higher expectation...)
;( yeah 4GB ram is definitely insufficient... very disappointed that at this price point they are still giving us 4GB RAM?
