First thing first, no names calling, no pulling religion into this, no insults.

Very honest question : Any of the parents here wanted to choose their babies' gender?
Anyone done it? Is it even available in Malaysia?

Everyone know how costly it is to raise a child in Malaysia right now, and me and my husband has always always wanted a son and a daughter,
it'a like the unspoken dream, and I know it could or could not be banned in Malaysia.

So I would like some advice or comments.

No, definitely will still love them, but of course, its something like if you could get one son and one daughter, why not.
Of course, if finances allows, I wouldn't even mind getting 3 sons and 1 daughter, or 3 daughters and 1 son.

It's more of wanting to have one of each gender at least.

In a perfect world 1 boy 1 girl sure nice.

But regardless, I'm not particular, as long as they are healthy.

As for budget, ya thats a killer, education 20 yrs down the road will be easily 1M EACH ....

some said eating can contribute to gender , but that depend on the higher power

first Q, yes it is nice to get baby girl for me or us and thanks God, we able to get baby girl but anyway for me personally Im ok just pray to God the baby is healthy and in good condition.

personally Im not going to do gender choice like those in lab just for that thing even if we are rich. We did some myth things and could say it is working for us haha maybe just pure luck or that our destiny as parent.

second Q, it depend on your expectation as parent and your life style. Just live and parenting within your economy and each year try to improve the economy. Best plan keep a saving before pregnant and all the way till end. yes we do wish to give the best of the best environment and education to our kid but reality yes it is hard we just try our best and hope a best of luck for our family.

im a young parent and still learning, and not even rich or high level position. just remember not all expensive thing or education is good for she/he, and not all good education or things will come with expensive value. example you brought iPad for your kid, the main purpose for her/his education but end up did we really use for education or just to keep them "busy" not disturbing us or end up wrongly use by them like watching cartoon or social media.

ya.... now its already close to 40k just for Degree

Ya, already looking into investment linked insurance, Malaysia also not safe this days, touch wood, who knows if anything happens to me or my husband in the future, at least our children have a bit of financial netting.

My 2 cents from my experience (ha)....

After 2 boys, wanted a girl. Learnt this tip from a book. Forgot the book title now. Just go to Amazon and search for baby sex etc, you will get it.

The theory is (my memory may fail me here)

* X sperms (girl) are slow marathon swimmers
* Y sperms (boy) are fast low stamina swimmers

Their target is to meet the egg.

So to increase the chance of X sperms meeting the egg, time the bed game x days before the start of ovulation (I think x = 3-4 days). The y sperms may be faster swimmers but the egg will be too far up for them to reach it as they have low stamina. The x sperms are slower but after a few days, they will meet the egg which is on the way down the tube.

Get it? Ha. I hope no medical student or doctor is reading this. Ha.

im not sure about the ovulation thingy.

the one that determines if its boy or girl, is always the man.
what i mean is, for girl its the XX chromosome.
for boy its the XY choromosome.

for mother which is XX pair, will separate into X and X.
for father which is XY pair, will separate into X and Y.

So mother's egg (ovum) is always X.
Its the father's sperm that determines the sex. if the sperm that penetrate the ovum carries X, then mother X plus father X become XX again, get girl la.
But if the sperm that penetrate the ovum carries the Y, then it becomes the XY.
XY is boy.



so, alkaline or acid, or ovulation timing etc, dont think it is that relevant to get what gender of baby.

just my opinion.

Apparently the X chromosome sperms survive better in an alkaline environment, and Y sperms in Acidic haha,
dont know whether is myth or anyone actually tried before~

this is just a theory.

the thing is, this theory proves to be correct on a high percentage. around 50%. thats a high number. So many people say, "owh, i eat alkaline foods and get baby boy."
from 100 person, 50 person say they get boy from eating alkaline foods.
50 people is a lot of people. they start telling other people "if u want to get a boy, u should eat alkaline foods etc" news spread.
the cycle goes.

but this theory is also wrong on a high percentage, 50% as well.

just like the gender distribution of births, around 50% male, around 50% female.



just like the theory if the pregnant perut is bulat its a girl and if its sharp is a boy....
this theory can be correct 50% of the time.

i read somewhere for IVF, can choose gender.

Many China nationals come to Malaysia to do it because over there its not allowed to choose the gender.

I know a lot of Asian countries dont allow gender choosing though, not sure if Malaysia one of them, but, IVF is a massive pain and terrible process, usually done by couples who have bad fertility rate, thus i was thinking if anything like sperm sorting

Actually from what i observed, the size of the belly do determine whether it is a boy or girl and this is by far 100% accurate whereby round belly = girl, sharp bulge belly = boy.

Few of my female collegue said that if want girl, make sex during low chance of pregnancy, if want boy, then make sex during high chance of pregnancy.

the only issue is, some people believe round belly = girl.
some people believe round belly = boy.

U'll just need to believe your eyes haha.

However some may have differ believe due to definition of 'round belly'.

To me, the difference is obvious by the sharpness of the bulge at the belly and tend to be at the lower belly.

you guys watched the movie Dangal? i really lol when he do all these traditional things to try to get a boy. good movie.

i dont think anyone should select a gender. we never know the outcome of it all. if a parent die die wants a boy and does god knows what and really gets one, but is a very feminine type. Sure they will have a lot of anger lol. when my wife got pregnant, i just wanted a healthy child. thats all that really matters in the end.

I read this too. But y sperms die much earlier than x sperm. So the egg has to be at the best location, so the y sperm will neet it faster. By that it means sex during ovulation for boy. For girl any day that leading up to the ovulation.

But it also depends on a lot of factor. Some male merely release a lot of x sperm so the above method will not work. Also although y should be the faster swimmer, it also depends on the vitality of overall sperm.

I think most of us trying to get boy to fulfill parents' or in-law's requirement. I ll say to heck with it. As long as baby is healthy, i will be thankful.

Natural tendency is to have the other sex once one has one of the 2 sexes.

My 3rd child, girl, has brought a different, pleasant element into our family journey. Though I am like a Hitler to her when she is naughty, does not listen etc etc. Ha.

My 2 cents, look around for tips, study them and then try some of the reasonable ones. Not all the tips will work. For me, it may a coincidence that the method worked for me.

if financial status allows, i wont mind to go for 3rd.... but... to pay chinese babysitters all very expensive, so got to think twice to have more....

not just that leh..think about the time and money that you will spend on them since birth, schooling etc...

Ehh.. i never really calculated the cost in a monthly basis. It depends on how much u willing to spend on the child. Some people always wanna give the best for their child. To me, i willing to spend money on my child if i think it is important for them.
The expenses is higher when the child is younger. As they grow older, it will slightly reduce. They are ways to reduce the cost at the intial stage so u can use the money on other important matters.

From word of mouth, heard confinement center will cost about 8-10k depend on place and number of facilities.

Havent take into account the milk powder, diapers, etc.... dont think 1k per month is enough
