Spay is best for small amounts (if you're exchanging the points to buy samsung product, effectively RM1.20 each swipe for highest tier 40 points). GXBank definitely should use if the spend is larger (RM100 or so), unless there's a credit card which gives rewards in addition to SPay rewards (e.g. SCB SimplyCash reward for dining spend). Double dip is good.

Any place that allows low value transactions with CC. Preferably self service places (e.g. grocery store, petrol station).

The mall normally will say. Just get familiar with the malls in your area, what is their policy. Example Empire Subang (now I think they got some Nu name already) and Subang Parade got 15 minute grace period, but IIRC Sunway Pyramid don't have.

I don't normally do this as I use petrol station small amount (and have two cars to pump so quite easy). Others have said that swiping for RM0 charge does get point, but I cannot confirm whether parking lots can get. Anyway as parking lots move towards scanning our license plate and only pay if got amount to pay... I think this is not a very sustainable method also.

Max earning (unless there's lubang I don't know about) is 2000 points (50 x 40). At 3 cents per point for Samsung purchase exchange value, that's RM60 per month. If you max every month you get RM720 per year.


I'm phone-only SPay user, my wrist is huawei band 7 which I got free from CC (or analogue watch if formal event). Is it possible you share why you hate SPay on watch? What I know from last time I researched is that SPay required pin number everytime want to open (this is why I never tried to explore using on watch) but my brother told me that this year update no need that already, you just unlock once and as long as you didn't take off your watch it stays unlocked.

The earning per swipe is not that good if you don't use regularly. If you are gold tier its 40 points (RM1.20 value) per swipe. But if you don't have any tier its only 10 points (RM0.30 value) per swipe.

So requires consistent usage or planning ahead how to use 50 times a month.

You so brave use your phone for tolls? If I drop TNG card max loss maybe RM100, if I drop my top-of-the-line Samsung......

My go-to tactic to max out is to pump petrol using SPay. If you got free time just swipe, pump a bit, then swipe again pump a bit (works best if you have multiple card in your wallet).

Yes of course. But should not be an issue, even if you pump multiple times and each time hold RM200, will just eat a bit into your limit. In the end what is actually charged is just whatever you spent also.

Depends on the petrol station. Most of the shell I go to nowadays can wave. Anywhere can wave means can use samsung pay. But I know at least one petrol station which doesn't support ANY wave at all except inside at cashier (please don't waste cashier's time for this) - the Caltex opposite Sunway Pyramid main entrance. My main shell/petronas stations all support wave, and hence can use samsung pay easily. Generally I will swipe multiple times if no one waiting.

Samsung Pay passes through the MCC code, I've never had problem getting petrol-specific cashback through it (formerly Citibank Cash mastercard, Standard Chartered's SimplyCash, and RHB Shell's Shell-specific cashback), and I exclusively use Samsung Pay for petrol except where UOB (not SPay supporting) got petrol promo.

In fact why so worried about hold? It's a credit card, memang got buffer of credit, not money from your pocket.

Aiks, collect all the points but cannot be used for Samsung Care+ purchase... seems only applicable to buying devices only.....

More importantly for me, when will UOB bother. The only physical cards I need to bring out currently....

Why RM10? SamsungPay will give you reward for even a few cents transaction..... if you are patient can settle everything for the month in one shot.

My thinking is:- taking my phone out and swiping it 50 times in a month will take X amount of time (take out, unlock, swipe).

If I take my phone out and multi-swipe at the petrol station, it will take less than X amount of time. So if I do have a bit of spare time at petrol station, just settle everything there and then.
