QUOTE(kopi @ Jan 4 2019, 06:08 AM)
Overbuying games CIMB block my Kwik card just as sales ended. Says too many small transaction worried fraud aka they worried because CIMB recently got hacked customer data. Told them its me and manage to buy the games in my cart still under sales even though sales ended. All i needed to do was use link in steam email instead of directly from cart which items has no discount price.

Yeah CIMB also called me when I made multiple small transaction in a row.

Why so many titles decide to go Exclusive for epic store rather than sell on both epic and steam? Steam start falling? I though those developer most of the time will hope for more sales so the best option should be sell on both epic and steam and other store rather than Exclusive to 1 store? Epic give them 90%-95% if they Exclusive to their store?

https://twitter.com/galyonkin/status/1083777713670942721

Epic Games store now supports 30 different regions (130 countries in total) for regional prices
Unlimited refunds within 14 days of purchase and under 2 hours played.

Really don't care about Epic Game Store. Like most people they don't want to have another game launcher installed on their PC.

Sure game developer might release their games more on that store because more profit. But I'll just wait till they release it on Steam. If Epic can somehow make all the games I have on Steam moved to Epic game store, then I won't mind switch, the only way they will get me to use it and abandon Steam laugh.gif

I like that they are giving more profits to developer tho. Which means Steam might also do it at some point, if Epic game store does really well. Competition is great.

The problem is now a few title start exclusive to epic store which mean if you like to get the game, you only can get from epic, no other place selling that games. I also not understand why developer want to lock themselves to epic only rather than open it to all store to sell their games for more copies.

In a way it's a healthy competition, other companies competing with each other to get more developers to join their platform, at some point Steam also might give more money to the devs, which could also prompt other devs to release on Steam as well.

What's so hard to get about them just releasing on Epic game store? They can maximize profit in a way, and it's sickening to know that Valve is taking a lot of the portion of the devs money for themselves. Epic is changing that and taking less, and giving more to the devs.

Steam feeling the heat. laugh.gif

Valve hasn't really given back to the community or any budgeted indie gaming group in any way. Just like blizzard is starting to be irrelevant due to their antics and "partnership" with activision , so is Steam walking that same road.
Competition is always welcomed, since the customer will get the best bang for their buck,
and it's good to know that developers are paid more than other platforms while purchasing their games.

I might install Epic Game launcher at some point.
The good thing about it so far is you get 2 free games each month.
That's like 24 free games every year, not bad at all.

Subnautica and What Remains of Edith Finch. Two good games.

In future, they go to game streaming path which amazon currently try to do soon.
That time playing game will become monthly rental. End user PC no need high end machine. I hope not all go to that path. I still like to pay 1 time to own the game rather than rental forever.

Anyone know in steam how to change the path so that particular game when do updating, it download to that path rather than other path?
eg. I got CS:GO in H:\...... path.

I move whole game into e:\ path due to H drive got some corrupt.
After that I check, verify all ok and I able to launch the game.

Next time when steam got update for this game, it still want to download to "download folder" at H drive first rather than go to E drive.
How can I change that so that it will put the download path match with where the game drive is?

Game renting is already on console like Xbox One, look up Xbox Game Pass, EA Access for PC & Xbox. The way im seeing it the future for gaming would probably be like Netflix rental then we play anygame, DLC/Expansion all paid separately.

There is also a possible future for game streaming services(Microsoft xCloud), like you said user may not need highend machine but required fast internet connection, but i wont see this take over game renting like Xbox Game Pass or EA Access, not everyone has fast internet connection and if markets favor this more PC hardware will not move forward much (cpu/ram/graphic cards).
