first of all, salute to fellow GRAB drivers out there.

I have quite a bit of dilemma doing GRAB. ive been doing this for the past 3 months, full time, and I'm seeing a worrying pattern to my income. I thought I might be doing something wrong, because my own experience and what I read over the internet and hearsay taht people can easily makes clean income nett profit above rm3k per month by doing GRAB.

so my daily routine is usually like this, and my expenses.
I started working from 9am and I usually do it till 9 or 10pm everyday. Sometimes I take 1 day off every week, sometimes none at all.

Expenses:
RM80+ Everyday Fuel
RM50 Everyday for GRAB Cash topup
RM20~RM30 Toll
RM20~RM30 Miscellaneous (food/tidbits)

other miscellaneous costs not included like phone bills/cleaning/car maintenance/tyres etc...

So this is pretty much my daily expenses doing GRAB from 9am~9 or 10pm everyday

with the RM50 topup, I can make RM210~RM250 gross salary everyday. Minus my expenses, I bring home less than RM50 home everyday nett profit.
At this rate I'm getting around RM1.5 only nett profit every month working my ass off everyday from morning to night with no life.
Ive heard other drivers bragging that this isnt the case and theyre making much more money than me.

Please, I beg of anyone that can help me. what am I doing wrong? How can I improve myself? I desperately need to improve... Im seriously at a loss.

I have a friend who also a GRAB driver because his employer did not pay him for 5 months. He told me also 'tak untung...' just enough to survive only. Sorry no tips from me.

What about your incentive? I can get at least RM 500 in incentives every week. My expenses just use the cash that I got from previous day.

from what I heard, you need to know when and where the hotspot is...

basically, you need to know peak hours so that the rate will be double or triple...

ive never gotten even one incentives yet since i start. most of the incentives are klia to and fro. i have not taken a single rider to klia/klia 2 yet and i dont think waiting all day over there is a good idea too, because too many other drivers waiting as well. itll affect my overall daily earning if i jsut wait and dont earn anything.

what kind of incentive are u getting? where do u usually wait for riders? mind sharing some tips? even if just rm500 clean profits from incentive every week is enuf for me to get by the month, unfortunately atm, i have not gotten even 1 incentives done, like the grab share, kila etc. ..

hes probably in same boat as me... someone told me grab is bad ever since they telan uber. now no competition, and they have lots of riders already.

U work about 11-12 hrs per day, gross income per day is RM250, income per hour is RM20+

There is something wrong with your driving area, try move to hotspot or high demand area.

Another thing is, try drive early in the morning by incentive, morning and evening peak hour is the best time to maximize income and higher possibility to get higher surge.

I'm doing part time can get gross around RM30-40 per hour at nearby city area btw.

Your car fuel consumption is very high too, eating your cost about 40% of your net income. Myself is around 20% using Myvi.

ahh is that what you think? so rm250 per day is abnormally low then? I drive a saga blm. maybe its high because I kept moving around to chase the ever changing hotspot. any advice on which area I should stick with?
also, what do u mean by drive early for incentive if you dont mind telling me? since a few weeks ago, only incentive bonus that is active in my grab acct is grabshare 15 trips, and kila/klia trip. no other incentive. ive heard people saying that there are incentive for a certain cumulative trips u do everyday, but I dont think I have that in my menu of active incentive.

but some driver that i take are happy with the pay but i did not ask them how much they make la..or maybe they are part time only...
in this case..is it better to get a full time job in the office? at least stable income every month??

I guess, coming from a full time grab driver thats been having it rough, its best if u get a full time job elsewhere - then do grab as side income.
personally Im falling behind on every monthly commitment I have. and im at a loss to how I can earn more to service my car as well. Im worried...

Where is ur location ? U used rm30 toll to travel home from your last drop off point? FYI, toll is paid by rider.

Since u are full timer, u should focus hourly guarantee(HG) and start at 6am. Look at the incentive table to learn more.

With the HP, UP, MP block in HG , u should get average RM25 nett per hour from grab for those block.

If you chase GS then ur Flexi I assume? Flexi got cashback daily ie: complete 20trips get 20% back. PLease correct me if I'm wrong.

Try Opt in HG? Ur 3months senior, I'm sure you know HG and Flexi. Anyway, keep ur GW high to fish for jerung (RM20 - 50). Your AR above 80%? U sapu all? Area? KL? MOnt Kiara, Damansara, all those rich + expat stay? It could be location not hot enough.

Pray for rain and the area ur in got red hot? If you can be in a red area with jam and rain but still managed to Pu rider and drop them using inside road in PJ... The fare is double or more...

Anyway... I might teaching u ajaran sesat again...

Go and read the main thread first page, it has a blog and u can opt in Hourly Guarantee (HG) by filling form.

To meet the requirement for HG, u need AR 80% daily.

hi bro, looking at your expenses is really kinda high

Expenses:
RM80+ Everyday Fuel (you drive 400km a day chasing red spot? you need to find a spot which is suitable to your driving area and which incentive you take)
RM50 Everyday for GRAB Cash topup (normal lah top up)
RM20~RM30 Toll (toll is paid by rider unless its your own during chasing the red spot so try not to pass by toll or chase red spot)
RM20~RM30 Miscellaneous (food/tidbits) (i think quite standard for whole day)

try to hit minimum RM30 per hour inclusive incentive. chasing red spot is not the way for me, instead of moving around try park at mall or market area for like 10-15mins, no ping then move to another area. (park,wait and move) fuel saves more if you can off the engine while waiting

if still cannot, i seriously think GRAB is not suitable for you
basically your gross earning RM200 you earn is break into below
GRAB commission - 25% RM50
Petrol and maintenance - 25% RM50
Your gross before food and own toll - 50% RM50 - 20 food - 20 toll = BALANCE RM10 WTF

If you sapu all, I think ur AR is high... >80%. Do opt in HG to try it out if the plan is good for you. HG Players aim for RM5 trip cos wanna max incen but during B or P block they fish for jerungs or eat good food (go to telegram chat, see what they post for lunch or brunch, heheh) or go tgk wayang....

If you never opt in then ur Flexi now. Flexi players really2 choosy on ping they accept. some set RM20 above only. some KLIA player only. but AR koyak laa... 30% to 50% (if they wanna chase flexi cashback)

Flexi pro I know still bring back RM400 gross daily for 10-12 hours job. Smile and accept that some days is good, some days is bad.

Yup, u need to opt in. There is a opt in button/link in your weekly incentive structure mail in your grab app notification.

B for Bonus, P for Peak.

As I said, all this jargon you will pick it up once you've read the last 100 pages. Please read. Take some time off and get to know how to maximise ur income. If you're really serious about making money in Grab anyway cheers!

Well, there are many other platform eg. My car which am have better pings than others but others such as Diff and fyi, both mycar and Diff platform do not have DR and AR and CR rating and mycar is offering 100% fare til end of May and will start deducting 15% commission 1st of June whereby Diff strategy is no commission deducting but need monthly subscription for unlimited trips. I am doing mycar now and so so but then they are new. Hopefully they can replace uber

First of all, who is your referral? He do earn referral commission from your registration, so get back to him and ask him what should you do.

OMG, 3 months? You're seen still newbie! Check my current table earning! I'm doing this about 2.5 months HG in KL city, being part-time driving and I'm satisfied what I had did over the months! I can easily hit minimum RM250-300 per week just only the incentives. With trip fares, roughly Rm600-RM700 earning, minus car petrol and toll, I could have clean RM550 per week. My car get 2 time fills petrol per week and run me about 630KM per fill and only cost about RM120 and maybe less than that.

Learn how to KAYUH! I drive every morning from 6AM-9AM and then step into office at 10AM.

I promise Ill keep you guys updated. early this morning i called grab customer service and the operator actually spent quite a lot of time explaining to me what mistake I have done, because I intended to do GRAB full time, and have been doing it like so for 3 months despite deficits in income. he explained to me, because I was ported into GRAB when they bought uber, my default account had always been flexi account. tahts why despite spending long hours everyday, ive been getting so low income because I had 0 incentives for 3 months. also the cashback rewards are seriously ciput... I actually had to spend it for car service.

you guys really have no idea how much this meant to me. and yeah, just like u said, I had no one to turn to. which was why I had to turn to /k/ and found this subforum. i wouldnt be exaggerating if I said i had hit rock bottom. I was soo depressed these past couple weeks. im doing my job like a robot. I had no life. my meal was... well, compared to those succesfull GRAB drivers who posted their meal everyday and watched movies, mine was pathetic...

I hope this thread wont get closed. Ive bookmarked it and Ill post updates after 1, or 2 weeks my HG acct has been activated from flexi acct. Im seriously indebted guys. truly!

just my thought, newbie please dont do full time

because now incentive is much more lower compare with 1 year ago, so full time need alots of strategy to maximise their earnings i.e at which block to accept what kind of job and also to use cancellation at the right time and right rider (without being complain)

btw, i am doing part time and I also cut down driving a lots as many HP become P...

Before 16 March 2018, there is ambassador (minus 20%, Grab App Only) and associates program (minus 25%, Can install other e-hailing app). After the 16th, Grab scrap the program knowingly in the future they gonna buy their most closest competitor. So the program is obsolete.

It's ok... just dbkl all pings. Then check your incentive tab (scroll down after the airport incen and select view all in hourly guarantees tab) after hanging your keys to remember and learn what you should and should not do in M,U,H, hour block. Join our telegram chat. Even if we all tok kok most of the time, you will learn some other sifu tips on why they reject pings or cancel accepted pings or in some cases incentive be damn... catch jerungs laaa... but dun ask noob question please... Ask here in LYN and read the chat for uninformative but yet entertaining facts.

You'll will have to decide in 15 seconds - accept or ignore - 3rd ping RM50 in the M Block at 45th minutes - after completing 2 x RM5 trip before in the same block - That RM50 gonna burn your incen this hour and probably the next because of the distance and time to complete - But on the other side you got cash in hand - So how? whattodo... Whattodo??? Hehehe....

Tips: FT aim for Rm100-150 daily incen. So minimum 100 x 7 days?? You kira... But when you bcum terror in the next few weeks, daily incen 200 and more... you pay for the mamak TT sessions in telegram chat okie???

Regardless, Grab Pay or not... everytime you pass the toll, please edit the 0.00 amount and put toll charges. Reason being that some of your rider wanna claim the toll cost in the receipt/email grab from their work.

If the rider complain to GRAB, you collect toll but never edit in the 0.00 tab - it might be an issue for Grab and You...

I mean really larrr your rider feel very untung taking ur rides... toll you settle and they oso keep quiet oni... If they're a responsible rider, they shud tell you that toll rider pay or better, leave a tip more or the same cost as the toll... #riderdiamdiamsebabuntung.

things I learned the hard way:

since 2 months ago, maybe more than that after uber/grab merge, I have never charged my riders for toll. every single day I belanja my riders minimum rm20 in tolls because i thought, like in uber, all calculations are inclusive... now I know why i take home rm30~rm40 those days i first started. Ive only started collecting toll fees manually from yesterday after u guys told me to do it manually. but even then, i didnt key it in the app because i didnt know the toll slot could be edited...

btw, yesterday i made 20 trips. all long distance, short distance, I sapu semua. i brought home cash about rm 70 untung bersih minus all daily expenses. today i checked my incentive, only got rm59 or so. can anyone tell me if that is a good number or bad number?

also btw today I picked up a model from mont kiara and sent her to studio. i tried to google her name but i guess shes not on that level yet since i didnt get any match haha

If u call from Grab apps, u only can get masking number, u cant call the number anymore after u drop off the passenger.

Unless u asked customer their personal number, else u just get grab masking number.

also i dun understand what u mean... ok here is how it works on my phone. I called customer starting from grab app, u see?

and when i press the call button, the call isnt made from grab app. what it does is it actually enters the whole number list on my phone app. so i had to press teh green button to call them manually like how i call my friends and family on day to day basis. i dun udnerstand what u mean by calling from app, masking number, etc etc... probably easier if i showed u a printscreen instead. i have days of phone logs calling unregistered unsaved number. but the number is always shown in full...

u can check ur call log, all number u called / received start with 016 299 xxxx

i just took a screenshot on my phone and was just gonna upload the picture here jsut now. then i thought what if theres people from grab hq here that can trace those numbers and found out my id from cross referencing... maybe its better if i dun put it up here after all. just trust my word. I have the full number of every single person i ever called from grab, safely recorded in my call log. i just didnt save their number with names, but the numbers are still they. i can even save them and ill get their whatsapp details the next seconds.

Try count like this,

Yesterday i complete 25 jobs, total fare = RM220

Incentive = RM100

Total = RM320 - 64(20%) -RM50 petrol

= RM206

I drive 9 hours, so 1 hour nett around RM23

oh the apps is using the same name..mycar?? dont mind trying it out..for me it's more of convenient instead of the branding la..whichever car that come first i will take it

RM59 for Full Timer (FT) is low but you're a beginner Hourly Guarantees (HG) player so it should be ok. As I reply in the earlier thread, normal for FT is RM100 - 150 daily. You can be sifu oredi if start to earn incen RM200 daily.

I can feel you start to smile oredi and soon when the incen rolls in, you can laugh and be happy driving.

And... b4 you ask... Incen is also depend on minutes "available for jobs green slide button on the top right, not in the middle online offline button". To earn full incen, the slide button have to be green but after accepting ping, if you off it, it will counted as minutes online right after you press drop rider, then have to slide green available for jobs again.

Eg: U on green slide button for 30mins and the hour block is (1 trip) RM25 - (4 trip) RM50. Incen will only be pro rated to half bcos 60mins - 30mins, so therefore, if you get 4 X RM5 trips = RM20 cash but incen only RM5 bcos half of RM50 is 25....

Happy strategizing your Incen...

Good practice! rather than ordering two at the same time or 4 riders order one each from 2 different e hailing = that is 8 orders already and when the first car arrived, all 4 jump in and what happen to other 7 orders (drivers who arrived later???). - Students from all U notoriously doing this often.

The other 7 drivers already wasted time and fuel to get to the pick up point. Simply put sand in other people rice bowl... imagine if their father and mother were treated and played the same way....

sorry for not explaining earlier..but sad to say that this happen b4 and was highlighted in FB..college student ordered 3 cars to see which one come first then cancel the rest...the best thing is that they are so proud of it..they never think what if this happen to their family member who is a driver...

Arrange your needs in B and P block... Mega(M) Ultra(U) High(H) Peak hour block try to score the lowest fare and maximise the number of trips. Bonus(B) and Peak(P) hour block u can hunt for big fare and oso eat good food, tgk wayang, tok kok in chat, kau leng lui or vietmoi, toilet, sleep... anything lahhh under the sun...

Emergency in MUH block... hafta go toilet then go lorr... emergency what... off green slide then after finish business then slide green on again... no point leaving it green then after ping masuk, u not in to answer then ignore one job, lose Accept Rate(AR) and oso green slide will be auto off, lose minutes online as well... (Picture of fade black with padlock sign...) - there is a solution that actually... (Bring ur phone wit u to the loo) Hahaha...

The schedule changes if there is a public holiday. and if ever GRAB wanna reduce incen, they wil make changes to MUH Block... as long as u try to max ur incen during MUH block, u shud be ok. U r FT Grab... try to target RM100 and above daily ok... bcos that RM100 and above still have to minus Grab commission.

Every once in awhile if not often... Grab will throw spanar at you during MUH Block... whether to accept, to ignore... you will know what to decide thru experience. Every drivers is different and only you know what best for you...

How is your intake for these few days HG? Its exciting now huh? with the planning, decision and execution... but remember beginner or senior, some days is good and wonderful while other days is so so, and maybe there is that one particular day is not good... whatever it is.... Bite the bullet! Carry ON... and never stop driving!

when I was about to give up on GRAB and first opened this thread to appeal to you guys, I made home everyday about rm20~rm40 (on a good day) nett profit.
Im glad to say last week, my first week of doing HG, I managed to rake in over rm1,000! atm, my average daily earnings are RM150++ (with incentives included, and all expenses already deducted!)

so from your advice, I made even more than rm100 that you recommended, but I still havent made the calculations using the formula that someone left in here, so I dunno how much I make per hour yet.
just so u know, highest amount of incentives I ever earned from flexi before this was like rm17 only... and they always gave me short trips. Now after I opted for HG, they spammed me with long trips

I dunno whether thats a good thing or not
for now, I still dunno yet how to maximise the HG system using the pick and choose method. I just accept all works given to me, and i only reject (long) trips during MP blocs, and not other blocs!
Im still trying to learn, so give me time to see how its done

btw, my incentives from last weeks job, I still havent gotten it. how will they pay me? and when?
