My gf lost her iphone 6s last week and couldnt find it even though using icloud to locate the phone location. Here comes the problem, we managed to download the icloud software in PC and log in, but unable to extract/download the whatsapp data from icloud to PC....its located in the storage folder when i clicked in it shows there is whatsapp data but no other button or option to choose download or anything..... I asked my gf does she backup her stuff often but she couldnt recall whether she did or preset and backup or not....could i know how to extract the whatsapp data from there ? FYI i went online to search and even downloaded some 3rd party software, logged in to icloud account but it shows no backup detected.

Could anyone share how to download the watsapp data ?

Whatsapp is end to end encrypted, dont really think you can extract. U can try getting another iphone, sign in with her apple id, and restore whatsapp onto it. then back up to the PC.

When i changed from iphone 5s to android and then back to iphone X, i did get back all whatsapp chat from iphone 5 but not from the recent one from android phone.

yes as whatsapp does not allow mix between android and apple , i email whatsapp support team before. this is the reply

As an alternative, if you would like to save a specific chat, you can email yourself your chat history. You must do this before switching devices.
Please note: It's not possible to re-import the emailed chat into WhatsApp or to use it for restoring your chat history.

i believe there is only one option , check icloud whether there is data saved for whatsapp, if yes then yes there is backup , third party platform is not so reliable ,
