AMD graphic cards are 1 tier lower for the price you pay for. Are you sure?

GTX 1080 Ti > RX Vega 64 (not even GTX 1080 performance)
GTX 1080 > RX Vega 56 (slightly better than GTX 1070 performance)
Nothing to compete for RM1999 for RX 580 but close to GTX 1070 Ti prices.
GTX 1060 > RX 570

M/B - B350 chipset.
PROCESSOR - Ryzen 5 1600 or 2600
GC - Since you want freesync, have to choose AMD, maybe RX580.
RAM - min 8GB. Go for 3200 speed if can get good price cause RAM speed effect Ryzen performance.
HD - no ssd. buying another 1 TB HDD.
Cooling - Use after market cooler for 1600. For 2600, it come with stock cooler which is good enough if you dun plan to OC.
CASING - enough space for everything +3 hdd, ample space.
note: need to make it last for least 5 years.

1 tier lower? are the cards overpriced?
I'm using AMD cause I want to play with emulators. Since CEMU works with AMD processors, its better to get the same GPU. Oh, and freesync monitors.

QUOTE(Baesuji @ Apr 23 2018, 09:20 AM)
Do you mean you want to use a freesync monitor or you already have a freesync monitor? If you already have 1, what's the specs for it?
*
I dont have one. Please suggest which one to get.

Not touching 7. So, its 5 or something... 4? what happened to 6? O_o?
I'm planning to use this rig 5 years without any upgrades. So, no 2nd hand.

Right now I'm using Acer P205H monitor. (1.9 in x 0.8 in x 1.4 in)
https://www.cnet.com/products/acer-p205h-bm...nitor-20/specs/
It just fit perfectly inside my computer desk, theres a 'hole' to put it in.
http://uhurufurniture.blogspot.my/2011/09/...er-desk-30.html. The white plank on the left can be adjusted or removed.
So, monitor wideness below 1.9 inches or 20" monitor only?

refresh rate....60 maybe?

I don't think there is any 20" monitor with freesync available in Malaysia.

On the other hand, 20" means you will be running 1080p and 60hz,

if you insist on having Radeon (if you manage to find 20" freesync monitor), to run High settings on witcher 3 and so, you will need RX 570 (About RM1.8k).

You will need to manage your budget closely by fixing on RX 570

Yes, ridiculously overpriced for Radeon. Like I said, 1 tier lower.

I'll help you test CEMU at home on my Ryzen 7 1700 + GTX 1080 setup tonight.

So, buy a new desk too?

Not touching 4k and 1080p is the standard today. I think I"ll stick to 60hz and 1080p since my eye wont see the difference.

Lets say I just put the monitor a bit forward, outside the 'hole' or use another desk with plenty of space, what monitor would you suggest?

Test it please.

Still, I wont be buying anything newest to the market. So, no vega or GTX1080, the price is overkill for me sleep.gif

A quick check:
24" Acer KG251Q 1080p with freesync 75hz RM 579
RX 570 for witcher 3 high setting RM 18xx
Ram 2x8GB 3200 is good enough RM 1000

I would still strongly suggest to buy 1 small SSD (250GB) as main drive, the speed difference is massive. EVO 850 RM 379

Total RM3808

Still need CPU, mobo, PSU, casing

GPU RX580 Similar performace with 1060.
SSD you do really need a SSD samsung 850/860 EVO or MX Crucial 500 both got 5 year warranty.
RAM now a day need 16GB for gaming and get try get 3200MHZ fast speed give you a better performance.
PSU you can get a 650 (RM429) or 750(487) watt psu, 650 watt is enough for the system but add RM58 can get 750 watt is your choice.

fuyooh, 1k for rams shocking.gif If windows still complains about rams after this sweat.gif

Hmmm....SSD. I torrent heavily so I got 1 HDD for torrents and another for windows and to install games (2 partition). So, with SSD, I install windows and the games in it, with or w/o partition? or toss windows in HDD?

Frankly i find RAM speed overrated. IMHO, get 24GB of DDR4 2400 RAM (total 3 sticks) and save some money.
I can almost bet you you wont notice a drop of difference 2400Mhz vs 3200Mhz,
but 24GB vs 16GB, a few years later will be significant...

RM1K for RAM is way TOO much.

If anything needs your money, its an SSD for boot drive.
This is a MUST, as windows 10 was built with SSDs in mind, and is extremely disk intensive.

SSD for games only if you do open world shooters, and/or game in 4K, if not no need at all.
This can add later anytime, so no rush. focus on hardware that matters (like a BEEFY CPU Cooler.)

2600x? Thats the 2nd gen ryzen O_o Is the price correct or just an estimate? How long before our local shops sells it? I dont see it in the pricelist from lowyat.

Thank you for the pc recommendation.

I thought people get 2 sticks of RAM for the dual channel? If 3, wont the 3rd stick under perform?

Since 3 people already recommended it, I will buy SSD biggrin.gif The price for the 250Gig seems reasonable.

The CPU price is based of lowyat news
https://www.lowyat.net/2018/160426/2nd-gen-...price-malaysia/

The mother price is around 4XX-6XX based on 1st generation M/B price there should be on same range.

Ram you need make it to dual channel 8GB X 2 = 16GB

SSD skip the 120GB, 500 GB over your budget so 250 GB is suitable for you.

Rig + monitor around 70XX.
