only reason i don't promote jaring is that only dialup are available in sarawak. ISDN is too expensive.

well, waiting another 1-2 more years for that other WiFi service to be up. 2 of the towers have been up for awhile now, near my areas and a lot more are popping up all around kuching for the past 12 months. haven't tried accessing the service yet. waiting for more news about it.

QUOTE(Reis @ May 16 2007, 09:23 AM) yep. first time i heard about it, was in april last year. the proposal was to have the entire town of miri and offshore completely wireless. the target customers wasn't the miri community but for the oil & gas companies to communicated between onshore and offshore. then when chief minister made the announcement earlier this year, seemed very different. hope that they can pull it off. very sick and tired of streamyx and i think their technicians are tired of my phonecalls too. |

As long as I can avoid using the phone system, will be happen. looking at the phone line outside my house, it's a big mess.
The streamyx service in Kuching isn't too bad. It's the KL call center that I hate. So far, the Kuching service folks are always making housecalls. Well, to my house many times now. My granny has to supervise them tinkering on my pc. >.> The lag is still bad. Thing is, browsing has improved a lot over the years. It's the WoW tracerts that are showing it's some AT&T gateway in US that is making the bottleneck. All the Malaysian IP (if that's the correct term to use), is showing less than 100 ms lag. Only when it hits that AT&T server, that's when the lag starts. |
