Hi guys, i currently facing some problem on symantec ghost 2003.

I have create image using ghost 2003 to clone a drive with Windows XP Pro operating system to another hard drive. Once i done clone, i got try restore back to the system see does it works or not.

However after restore successfully, and i reboot my notebook.
When it come to Windows Boot up section, a cursor was blinking on the top left side and wait for so long also no respond.

Do any of you facing this problem ?

The machines i facing problem is listed below :
- IBM R51
- Compaq Evo N1000v
- Compaq Nx5000

I tried on many of the same model notebook, but seems like this few model are facing same problem. Others such as Dell Inspiron 2650, Compaq Evo 1020v, Compaq nx6120 & Compaq nx6320 all work well.....

Note : I using Ghost 2003 with latest build

Thanks thumbup.gif

Ohh....yup, i took the hdd from the notebook, plug into a PC (by using 2.5Inch to 3.5inch IDE converter, then from that PC , boot from Ghost CD , run the command GHOST.exe , then create image

Backup
SOUCE == NB HDD
TARGET == PC HDD (Create Image on this drive)

----------------------------------------------------------

Restore
SOURCE == PC HDD ( Image File )
TARGET == NB HDD

*** NOTE : I using Partition to Image for Create Image
While Partition From Image for Restore Image

den is good luck for u liao..
using clone pc to clone is not work for the branded PC

all the branded PC got their own setting.
all u can do is u set up a ghost cast server . clone using LAN.
then u can used the ghot image.

i can tell that if u are using dell PC to clone to the dell laptop, it should work. like wat i doing now..

i also got same problem wif u if i clone the IBM R51 using dell pc. it exactly came with the same problem.. just stuck at the boot up section.

what i do is i setup a ghost cast server, Clone the R51 to the dell PC.
finally it work.. it save me alot of time to reinstall another 20 unit..

well just clone ur image to ur current lappy drive first. Then u can save the image out by burning dvd or transfer by using lan. nonid so complicated. N ghost2003 support ntfs cloning n storing image too.

work condition lappy>clone image to d:(example which is extra partion that created on ur lappy)>Burn them as image in dvd or cd or transfer them to a storage media like external hdd or to Lan PC

Norton Ghost is one of the best cloned software in the market and it's recommended by many. But there is an issue with not being able to read the hdd if you try restoring it in sata hdd. It is a big issue in the net if you do a research. You may try the latest ghost version, they may have fixed the problem.

A second option is to use arconis true image home(latest version) they do not have any issue with sata hdd.
