At times a slight tangent to the thread can be beneficial and insightful (to those who READ it tongue.gif ), and I still thank abcn1n for the input.

U now have a good reason to get a new 64GB (or even 128Gb) phone wink.gif

Haha. Too early to tell whether ok. Don't tempt me. Have been thinking of the Lenovo P2(as an extra phone) but maybe better not.

2 recent events(below) made me think twice of buying phones with  1xsim + 1hybrid(sim/sdcard) slot. Better to have dual SIMs + separate SDcard slot for data. Only a couple of Xiaomi phones have such features.
1. accidentally deleted photos from internal memory and hard to recover
2. ic board bricked.

Sorry to hear that. For me, I too prefer that but I put the phone specs and price over having dual SIMs + separate SD card slot.

Posted this in RN4 thread but didnt get much reply, hope can get help from here:

My Malaysian set RN4x is unable to switch on or boot, only red light keeps blinking during charging.  Google and it seems like a common problem but different way of rectifications. So far tried a few but not working.

After trying the different self diagnosis suggested by google, my 18months old RN4 still cannot be charged or boot. Brought to Xiaomi Authorised service center to diagnose and was told problem with mainboard, so not worth repairing n paid rm25 for that. My 3year old RN3 still kicking strong.

The xiaomi authorized service center said my phone is gone and  data not retrievable. But when I brought to another shop, tested my battery ok but still can't charge and can't switched on, dismantled the battery n powered d phone directly by charger n phone can be switched on and booted, everything still intact felt relieved.
At least now allowed me to savage my data. Will backup all data b4 repairing the shorted mainboard, repairing cost btw rm150-rm250.

Useless  xiaomi service center charged me rm25 for a lousy job.

WTA:
1) Is it safe to continue using the shorted phone with direct power while backup the data and reset it to factory setting?
2) Is the repair cost of 150-250 which takes 2 hours too high?
3) Normally would repaired unit last >1 year?

Any opinion is welcome.

At this price. I think it is much better for you to get a new one.

Noticed the following on 3/32GB and 4/64GB:

1) B4 the update, there was a slight hesitation when swiping right on home screen to access the shortcuts/brief note/ calendar events page. The hesitation is gone now.

2) The usual random disconnects from wifi (which I complained about in this thread some time ago) did not happen yesterday and today.

I looked thru the changelog. There was nothing directly related to the two changes I had noticed. Maybe the android security patch did something good smile.gif

How's your wifi now? I had this problem and it was fixed with this update, but last week there was another update and now the wifi disconnect issue is back.

Yes it seemed fixed for a while.
Recently it disconnects now and then...but not as frequent as before (which really wasn't that frequent)

The launcher was updated last week on 15th...all I can hope for is another update will make things better.

Just wondering if the xiaomi phone when you hold the phone internal speaker (bottom part) near your ear and there's a frequency sound like bzzzzzzzz, even though your on silent mode and not playing anything... is this mormal or some internal fault is going on? will this drain battery excessively?
