Hello,

I am currently looking for a tripod for my smartphone.

I wonder if joby is a good option?
The ball joints does provide great amount of flexibility but does the thing last? If read somewhere before that someone got his joby tripod and after a year, of the the joints at the very top went loose, and the tripod become useless.

Does this ever happen to any joby that u own?

personally i have joby slr zoom that does the good work and worth the buy. it is very sturdy.

so far it served me well for my traveling usage to replace the huge standard tripod.

however talking about flexibility and durability, it really depends on how one uses it. the joints still durable up til now, but im not a daily user.

if you're a frequent & heavy user, it is definitely gonna have some wear and tear on some parts. depending on how often you use to bend the joints.

but of course you have to make sure you got the authentic product from joby, not those china imitation product. those comes cheaper than joby srp sure wont last any longer than the original.

i'm using Joby GorillaPod 1K, mostly for vlogging so the legs remained straight, slightly curve. But if you wan to attach it to a non-large/flat surface like fences/street pole, which you'll need to twist the legs around the object, you'll have hard time to straighten back the legs.

I own a Joby gorillapod 3k. Used it for almost a year at various event shoot for timelapse and still super sturdy.

Good stuff but it's no cheap laugh.gif
