Relying on the collective wisdom of /k here.

Any recommendations on where should I go for a full body check up? I did some online search and found a few 'deals', which I don't actually know are they cheap or expensive, nor whether they provide a truly 'comprehensive test'. Purpose of test is 2 fold:

1. For old people in their 50s who want to identify any lurking problems
2. For younger people where we just want to do a biannual preventive checkup

Some links:

1. BP Healthcare:

Head To Toe Checkup
RM 1500 for single person, more if got package.

Package includes:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Head to Toe with Dexa Whatever Dexa means?!?! confused.gif confused.gif confused.gif
RM 1300 or so per person.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

2. Pantai Hospital

Pantai Hospital List

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

3. Pathlabs

Not too much info on packages offered, here's their link

Pathlab

Edited:
Reviews of any of the places that you have been to and their performance / service? More recommendations?

Any specific reason for you to be selecting there? Is it price or service quality? Also, any specific package you're aiming for?

Edited: Thanks! That website has quite a bit of info on different packages.

RM 1300 or so per person.
I purchased this H2T package from BP and did mine last year. It is only half a day process.

Dexa is a bone density scanning for the whole body where you just lay flat (sleep) on a surface while the machine will scan your whole body and determine your bone density for the whole body.

Better do it in KL/PJ as other states might not have such facility.

I actually got a lot more headache when presented with more info on this. Damn, a simple body checkup can be so complicated. The more I read, the more questions I have.

You want cheap can just go to any goverment clinic for a wellness check, event University Hospital provide such service.

Truth be told if you are young, i wont advice the tumour markers or dexa.

What to screen for should be based on symptoms and risk factor.
eg DM --> Cardiovascular assesment/Renal/Opthal and so on.

Due to logistics, the people that going for these check up cannot just pop by to their nearest centre all the time. They are overseas people, so am looking up for the 'best' package in terms of coverage, service and value for money when they come.

I see, thanks for Dexa info. Did you pay the same price quoted on website as well? Is Dexa recommended, or is there an age threshold before one should start doing it?

Got both old people (circa 50 to 60) and young people (circa 30). So any recommendations? As for risk factors, I also don't know in full, hence going for comprehensive general check up.

What is DM?

Diabetes.

Just check for wellness health check up, again i don't recommend tumour markers as a screening.

Most of the packages you are listing is overkill to me.

Go to  Life Care Diagnostics at Jalan Kerinchi, Bangsar South.

I had my blood test there, the facilities and professionalism is excellent.

The prices are reasonable if you go for promotion package.

Don't go to BP healthcare, chinaman service (no good) or Pantai (too expensive)

You should pay a no obligation visit there to have a look first

Read the reviews here

Go and see the facilities and prices in Life Care Diagnostic and compare with Pathlab/BP. The facilities in Life Care is almost as good as Subang Jaya Medical Hospital except that  like some people said, the waiting time is quite long. But it is better to be accurate and long rather than not accurate and fast.

Pathlab almost same as BP healthcare in terms of quality and facilities, you can google the reviews, it got very poor rating

Thanks, checked some reviews and looks decent. What about your personal experience? Are the doctors there good?

Facilities looks like very well equipped.

Facilities is definitely ten times better than BP healthcare and Pathlab which are just small clinics.

I only did my blood test packages which is around RM80 for more than 60 parameters for several years, once per year.

I didn't go for medical checkup but I looked around and most of their professional staff and doctors are Chinese.  brows.gif

Their official website has photos of their doctors.

Just go for free tour first and decide later , they have PR staff there.

Hi. I am looking for a more customized health check.

Anyone know of these are available around? I think
these package are a bit overkill . I am just concern about certain areas / parts .
I think these package are just to make the menu look great really.

Having said that if there is a free consultation so I can highlight my concern before the check will be great .

Haven't been much checks before. And so far search only show packages..

young people going for checkups, what do you expect to find? once they discover any abnormalities, thats when you'll be sucked in the treatment and more checkups by private hospitals. can say goodbye to your wallet.

not to say health checkups is a scam, but like some guys here said, its overkill.

Yeap

Depending on your age, check ups are only necessary is you do not feel well or you are at an age of risk.

Young ppl do the rm200 range one. Don't be surprised a lot of ppl in their early 30's already got high bad cholesterol. Result of eating lunch outside everyday. With the black and white, might sedar sikit to be more careful, because I'm one of them.

Most of colleague in their late 30's got high blood pressure and they're not fat

most ppl seems to think that they can interpret themselves the results coming out of the labs..

find a doctor u can trust.. ask him to recommend the test required.. and go through the results with him...

health check must be done consistently with professional guidance..

i know of ppl who done health check once in his mid 20s.. then nv do for the next 10 years.. and in his mid 30s keep telling ppl his last test was OK .

yes.. i do annual health check with a family doctor....
the doctor knows my family history so he knows which extra test to check

Hi guys, If there were a possible way for you to do blood screening online ?
Would you guys opt for it?
There is a startup called DrPrevents which has partnered with Gribble's laboratory whereby they provide online consultation starting from rm 78 including screening itself .

Hi all, I think there are at least 2 types of med checkup:

1. Regular or annual checkup
2. Full body check up (mainly and esp. for people after a certain age, say 55)

I am more interested in the 2nd type. A search shows me some results as follows, they are not cheap, more than 1,000 per package.

If anybody has actual experience with any of these, or a place not listed here, please share with us about the quality, cost, and your review. Me and wife will be retiring soon, so plan to do this within a year before stop working, because the company subsidize 700 per pax.
