I think he mentioned wrongly, we are 2011 SPM leavers. We are currently in our first year and by the time you all (2012 SPM leavers) we became second year.

I would say bringing in and bringing out (when going back to kampung) will be a hassle to you and your family. You will probably need your laptop for presentations which requires you to bring along your own laptop so it is advisable to get one. In fact, get a good one. 2D 3D drawing programs like AutoCAD and SolidWorks will require the extra processing power.

No harm done getting a laptop (suggesting that you have no financial problem) 

I'm not the master of tech but I recommend getting i7 instead. Like I said, the extra processing power will do good when you deal with CAD. And also get a good gaming laptop.  there's a lot of games and movies that is shared in UMP through UMP Sharing (through HFS).

Perhaps Jayi  has better recommendation on getting which laptop.

This year they released a new system whereby final year diplomas can get a direct entry right after you finished the internship. So while others are waiting for UPU and enroll in Sept (degree), you are already studying your degree syllabus in February.

But if I'm not mistaken you are not allowed to do another UPU application if you chose this. Not very sure with this but its written in the announcement that way. We are seeing how our seniors deal with this first since they are the first batch.

but just an advice, HAF 922 with those hardwares in it is way too bulky and heavy to carry around.
Getting a laptop is really recommended as already explained by Clon.
3 years old but its still running strong, so no worries 

Lenovo are very well known for best bang for buck but I more keen towards the aftersales warranty service, hence i went to Dell with their top notch warranty services 

Avoid low end laptops with i3 if you one of the speed demons like me 
I not sure hows the gap between i3 and i5 during autocad and solidworks, since i'm using i7 all the time
But I can tell you that theres a very huge difference when rendering videos.
yep gaming laptops are not tat weight friendly 
i did not bring my desktop to ump though, i left it at hometown for my brother 

But Storm scout 2 is still a mid tower, portability still couldnt compare to those ITX case which just sized like a box 

yes of coz, ultrabook is way powerful to do those thing, but the down part is ultrabook doesnt come cheap.
you dont really require to bring laptop all the times walking around uni / to class.
just about once a while

Sem 0 is kind of giving freshies some time to get used with the uni environment, which only 4 credit hours if i not mistaken. thus u'll have plenty of free time after the class, spend it gaming wisely, do make good friend with fellas from kuantan and ask them to bring jalan jalan around kuantan, and most probably you'll might need their help in future
