So sad.
There were no infromation available online as to if there were any shuttle buses from UMP Gambang to UMP Pekan. So I went in blindly hoping there are some shuttle buses, I don't care if I have to wait an hour or so. Well, my theory is most Malaysian Universities have shuttle buses right? At least once in the morning to send them off, and another one in the evening to fetch the students back.
So I went to UMP Gambang at 7am waiting patiently for a shuttle bus to UMP Pekan campus.
8am I went to the Jabatan Keselamatan and inquired if there were any shuttle buses. He looked doubtful and asked me to wait at the bus stop.
And so I waited. Looked at the watch, it showed 9am.
With patience, I waited till 10am. At the bus stop. I am surprised I even made it that long.
Frustrated, I went to the Student's affair department. The officer mentioned the shuttle bus services were suspended and there were no bus going from that route. I stood there bewildered not sure whether to feel sorry for myself or angry. I have already combed the internet to search whether there was any shuttle buses for a few nights, but could not come up with any conclusive answers.
What I can say, after I went to UMP Pekan is.
Future students, don't need to go here please. You come over to UNIMAS in Sarawak is soo much better than UMP(both Gambang and Pekan combined; I'm a USM-ian btw).
Frustrated with UMP.
I do feel your frustration but first why would you assume there are shuttle buses between campus Gambang and Pekan? it was definitely a mistake to go along with your own theory. You should had call up the university to inquire before visiting.
It used to have shuttle buses when Pekan students had to stay over Gambang due to insufficient hostel. Thus buses are provided for them to travel between campus everyday but then this issue had been resolved recently and thus students are no longer travelling between campus. Hence shuttle buses are no longer needed and provided.
You said that you had searched over the net for nights looking for info but why wouldn't you came here earlier and try to ask instead of just ranting after all. Is it mainly because of shuttle buses, you would advise future students not coming here for further studies?
Reading whole posts, feels like you just want to promote UNIMAS > UMP. Anyway fyi, Im ump students and im not trying to defend my uni, just try to making things clear.
