Hello,

Currently my car porch is cement imprint, however a lot of cracks and holes after 4 years of usage.

I have requested a quotation for car porch tiling from a new contractor.

My car porch area is around 500 ft2. The new contractor said the previous contractor uses sand for half of the car porch underneath my cement, hence the cracks and holes.

The quotation is Rm7500 (including hacking existing cement, laying proper cement foundation, tiles installation, remove debris etc) without cost of tiles.

That comes to about RM15/ft2.

I would like to ask if that a reasonable amount? The quoted timeframe is 1 week.

Thank you!

You meant the price is still excluding tiles? I think it is rather expensive. However maybe it is the market now, Let's wait what others say. It would be helpful if you tell /k where are you located. Cost depends on location smile.gif

After several years, the soil will sink and that is why the cement flooring extension around the house will have crack along the house wall. Only house height stay because it is on foundation.

Even is cement like this also will crack. How long depends on the soil around the house. That is why hill-cut land is more expensive than lorry filled land laugh.gif

Hi all, thanks for the reply. Im located in ampang selangor area.

My neighbours are using the red bricks car porch from developer. Some are using tiles and no issues.

My car porch was not an extension. It used to be red bricks then i demolished it to lay cement 4 years ago. House was developed like 12-13 years ago, so i think the cracks and holes are due to bad workmanship and bad material used for laying the cement rather than to soil movement

I am looking for contractor just to pay the cost of workmanship to do my car poach tiles. planning to do 2 by 1 tiles, that will need me to buy roughly about 230 tiles. Not sure how to calculate the square feet doh.gif

Also planned if I can get the required things by my self rather than going through a contractor who marks up the price of the things.
One individual approached me and said he will offer to get me the things since he is a contractor he will get better rate and I said OK. so here was his list!

1. BRC A8 - 5 pieces RM875 plus Y12 steel totalling up to rm1025, what Is Y12 and why it cost me this much? I just checked online, it looks like Y12 is used for raising up any building when piling is done, what is the need to use it for car poach tiles?

2. Pasir 1 lorry RM 550 - Does this actually cost me this much or he asking me for sewa the lorry together rclxub.gif

3. Susu gam RM180 - I know they need to put this in between of the tiles, but how much is required actually ad the price?

4. Simen- 25 packet x RM15 = RM375, what is the exact cost of simen packet now days, if can get this in high quantity will there be any lower price given per packet?

5. Simen gam 15 x 15 = RM225 . What is the difference between susu gam and Simen gam?

6. Rubbish bin - RM300. I think this is way over cost

7. workman ship= Upah latai as he said in his quote, buang sampah , upah pasang tiles, and simen belakang total of RM2850. This is cut throat or if you feel other way around.

SO please tell me what is the actual things needs and does this prices make sense?

How much does it cost to reno car porch of 22 x 18 area all in including workmanship? Need to remove existing bricks (no concrete underneath, just soil), lay concrete slab of 4" thickness and 2x2 standard tiles installation.

Ballpark 8-10K figure. Assuming non slip grade tiles are used.
Also before starting.. make sure no mango tree growing in neighbour house, those will crack your concrete slab easily.

Thanks! That's within the range of what I was quoted. Is the concrete laying an expensive task? The price seems to be substantially higher than one with existing concrete slab.
