I would use uber when possible, grab only when uber dont have driver in area. In kajang for example uber takes 20 minutes while grab 1 minute, this is because in kajang there are few uber drivers and so many grab drivers.

Grab has already taken over uber operation in south east asia though.

The quality of grab app is terrible, not to mention price for short distance is more than uber. For instance for 1.2KM uber is rm 3, for grab it is rm 5, for taxis at MRT they dont want to use meter and want rm 10 instead. Walking that 1 km is terrible, mainly because of how dirty the area is rather than the sun baking midday carrying heavy bags.

I havent yet met a grab driver who was terrible, my first uber ride on the other hand was terrible as the driver did not stop as i was in the middle of the road waving at him while my second uber ride drove off with my stuff and his trunk still open but he seemed mentally challenged. So far from my experience the bad drivers form a small percentage. I even had 1 grab ride where the driver was much like a gangster, smoking with the bad haircut and only accepting cash (the app did not even inform me that the ride was paid by cash and not card which i selected but i verified when looking at the ride on grab app so it wasnt a scam).

For me as long as the ride goes as i expect or hope (the price paid was as shown, driver is not horrible) i give 5 stars, otherwise 1 star.

U know sometimes a color smoke could identify the rider or the driver. Im just imagining things up. I think sometimes a live phone call can helps both party to direct each other than relying on what apps? Im just giving some suggestion as im not a driver yet but im trying to figure out some of the problems the grabs user were facing. Somehow i have a feeling grab ceo is reading it and they may solve it later.

Actually uber app also not so perfect all the times....

being pick up uber rider who put wrong pick up location multiple times. They also never double check the pick up point shown in their rider app, just rely on the auto detected pick up address in app...later when driver pick up at wrong place, blame uber driver pulak for delay pulak.
