QUOTE(ianho @ May 29 2007, 07:38 PM) Sum ppl cant even get 40-50 FPS on a 17" monitor so yeah, I'd say the upgrade to a 30" will let u fully utilise the power of the GTX. From what you're saying, will there be performance downgrade when using high end card but using small monitor? atm im using 17" monitor, but soon will be upgrading to a larger monitor, but not sure when though. QUOTE(ianho @ May 29 2007, 07:38 PM) go get the Dell 30" monitor. They're really really cheap nowadays at only about rm3700 depending on the current offers. that phrase makes me wanna cry.. why am i not as rich as you..

QUOTE(sleepy @ May 30 2007, 09:26 PM) I'd go for Leadtek's 8800gts. Cheapest compared to the others, its at RM1100, just RM10 more than Palit. Of course, the bundled games are sub-standard compared to other more expensive cards Leadtek got out their card very early, and also selling very cheap. Even the card looks so cool. There must be a reason why their card is very cheap rite? Im not sure how true this is, but there seems to be some firmware issue with that brand. how far it is true, i do not know. Try googling. QUOTE(Phoenixwunin @ May 30 2007, 09:27 PM) Now you mention Calibre and their TEC cooler (which I do raise this issue a few post back)... How effective is this thing really?? TEC cooler stands for ThermoElectric correct?? Does this ensure a low-noise yet effective cooling solution. And how about their oc ability??? I tried doing some research through google but couldn't find any review that really is trustworthy to me Try googling for reviews of this card. Here's one for starters http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/423/

QUOTE(benzene88 @ May 30 2007, 09:59 PM) Hey guys.. I'm planing on getting a new rig.. what u guys reckon for a gpu? currently i'm thinking of 8600gt/gts.. or should i buy 7 series first and upgrade later? i'm on a budget too many things to consider bro. What will be the purpose of the pc? general usage? gaming machine? What's the max and min budget for your gpu? Please do not think of getting the 8600gts. jus topup a little and you can get d 8800gts 320mb, which performs a lot better compared to 8600gts.

QUOTE(ltw82 @ May 31 2007, 05:26 PM) is tht neccesary two owner's warrenty...? change of new gc is so darn fast, wht's the point having life time warrenty...? later icchi hand sure go change new gc again, seldom see ppl use it for so long... lol, he's promoting xfx larr. Can't you see, he got bulk XFX product. But there are some ppl who's very goddamn rich, who change gc whenever there's a better one available. So what do they do to the old one? sell larr. so if got warranty even though for a 2nd person, then it would be great rite? This post has been edited by rockmaniac85: May 31 2007, 06:04 PM

yep, as someone stated before, most of us are using 7300gt. Thus the reason for upgrading to a better card.
Same here as well.

QUOTE(akachester @ Jun 4 2007, 08:22 PM) No No No..Dont misunderstand me. Its just my curiosity on how it will perform..LOL..I am still torn between both ways which is spend more (eat ALOT of bread for the coming week) on the 8800GTS or save more on the 8600GTS. Considering the price between the 2, there is still a considerable RM400 difference which makes me ponder my necessity... My cousin had personally tested COH on 22" native resolution on High Setting and its still playable. Only slight lag when there are many units around. Therefore, i do feel 8600GTS will surely be able to handle that without any problem.. get the galaxy 8600ge larr, end of story..

QUOTE(akachester @ Jun 7 2007, 10:28 PM) Guys, wanted to know, what is the latest and most stable driver to use on the 8800GTS? go and check www.nvidia.com. They'll have with them the most stable driver. But if you would like to use beta drivers, then need to do some googling..

i get this from the Guru3D website, regarding the driver Sprinta using
ForceWare 158.27 for Windows 2000/XP/MCE just popped up everywhere on the internet. WHQL or not, this is to be considered a beta driver, we always recommend using the latest official NVIDIA driver.
The best is to use the latest official Driver.

QUOTE(Hyde`fK @ Jun 13 2007, 04:32 PM) With that kinda budget, you can really get a decent desktop. Anyway, I think you can get better suggestion here. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/450610actually, he wanted to buy a laptop, not desktop. but if you were to change your mind and buy a desktop instead with that much of a budget, u can get a super good pc!

QUOTE(akachester @ Jun 15 2007, 02:24 PM) My MSI 8800GTS 320MB OC is idling at around 58c - 60c.. Ok, i need some clarification on this one. Using everest ultimate, There's four sensor on the gpu temperature, namely GPU GPU diode GPU Memory GPU Ambient so, now ur saying it's idling at 58c-60c, so this temperature is which temperature? im guessing it as the GPU temp, not the other 3, am i rite?

QUOTE(Eoma @ Jun 15 2007, 08:30 PM) You should be looking at GPU diode. hmm, now that's the problem i facing.. i do look at the gpu diode temperature, but it's nowhere near 58-60C, it's always around 69 to 72C. So i am freaking wondering, what the heck you do to keep the temperature at that level?
