I would like to ask, is there an 8600 GTS graphics card that has more than 256Mb DDR3 memory, such as 320Mb ? Also, which brand assures top performance (Googling around, its hard to make a solid comparison), XFX, MSI, Asus, Galaxy ? I am seriously thinking of purchasing an 8600 GTS GPU for my Pentium D 3.2GHz machine with 2Gb memory.

I heard XFX's line of 8600 GTS offer exceptional performance at a slightly higher price.

I noticed you are using XFX 8600 GT, how good is it? I mean, in terms of what you actually expected out of it?

Added on August 11, 2007, 1:03 amUnfortunately, spending RM1k + for a GPU is something I wouldn't do. I know the performance gap is huge and will make a world of difference, but still, it comes down to affordability. After all, my display supports upto 1280x1024 resolution and its 19". If only the 8800 GTS are less than RM1k (+-RM900??)

The reviewer gave it a 9.5/10. It's just one review though.

Computer War Sdn. Bhd. (PJ) is selling MSI T2D320E for just over RM1k. It's 320Mb 8800 GTS. It's also very OC. But still, its over RM1k. I just hope the price will drop with news of upcoming 8900 GTX and/or (questionable) 9800 GTX. Right now I have the 8600 series in my mind.

Will the price of a 320Mb 8800 GTS drop below RM1k ? Right now I am saving for it, but I just can't reach for my wallet if I were to spend more than RM1k on a GPU... the most I ever spent was RM650 a few years ago on a Radeon 9600XT. Now my machine is equipped with a 7800 GTX. I was thinking 8600 GT, but seriously, it's downgrading my system...
I have heard of MSI's 8800 GTS going for RM1098.
