Nope. If the game is supported by SLi(most games are SLI nowadays) then the 7950GX2 is still faster than a single 8800GTS.

Added on June 3, 2007, 2:13 amHoly smokes! Those 3DM05 scores are absolutely mind blowing for a rm350 card. My old watercooled 6800GT overclocked like hell oso score around the same oni.
And that was a rm1800 gfx card back then. That just shows the progression of tech. Pay rm350 now for the same performance of a rm1800 card 2 years ago.

ermm is that palit 8500gt using ddr2 or ddr3 ?
i know that palit 8500gt sonic is using ddr3

note that galaxy 8500ge is overclocked version of 8500gt
plain 8500gt is at 450/850 if not mistaken
but this galaxy 8500ge is 600/1400

Yes, the GE is a OCed kaw kaw version of 8500GT from Galaxy.Definitely the best choice as of now for the 8500series..

Erm, sorry if my post is misleading abit. Its not entirely overall faster than 7950GX2, like ianho said, in SLI supported games, 7950GX2 will still wins sometimes by a margin, depends on in-games settings and resolution. Higher VRAM will have advantage in running higher resolution with better framerates compared to 320MB ofcourse, taking 7900GTX 512MB, which might be faster if only >1920x1200 resolution. But with AA/AF turned on, 8800GTS is more superior.

Can refer to Shamino's review. Have a look on those games' test and the settings applied for each.

I used the water cooled 6800GT for a while only, then moved on to a 7950GX2. Now oredi 8800GTX SLi.

Because 8800Ultra is just a slightly clocked up GTX. It's only about 10-15% faster. All I need is a simple 10-15% OC n they'll be about the same as the Ultra. Besides, even at stock speeds, the 8800GTX SLi already plays Oblivion on my 30" monitor at full graphics options smoothly. That's y I haven't even bothered to OC my cards. There's simply no need to stress them when they already run all my games smoothly. I usually only upgrade my gfx cards when I can get new cards which r 2 times more powerful than what I haf. If it's only incremental improvements then I wont bother upgrading as playing with top end cards especially when u play SLi is very painful on the wallet.

That's y if u look at my gfx upgrade history, I went from 6800GT to 7950GX2 to 8800GTX to 8800GTX SLi coz every step I took was about double the performance of the previous card.








I dont want to go back to water cooling coz I change hardware very often n I also swap around my hardware between rigs n the testbench to do hardware testing n reviews n all so a water cooled rig will b too troublesome. I need to be able to remove n reinstall the hardware quickly without the hassle of a water loop.

Anyone have any idea on whether i could run SLI on a Xfire mobo?Specifically the CFX3200?

And at what framerate do you guys consider as playable in term of gaming?

I thought you can't run Nvidia cards in SLI mode on Xfire mobo???

Well, there is some tweak for it though. Not sure whether its workable on every mobo or not..

Anyway, anyone tried the 8600GTS on any game before at 22" LCD?How playable are they? Besides, whats the difference by turning on AA and AF in games?

even its possible, I think u can only run in "software" SLI mode rite?

for the FPS, usually above 40 is more than enough for 22" and below screen. I think that FPS is getting more noticeable in larger resolution

Added on June 3, 2007, 8:27 pmwhen turning on AA n AF, it is imposing the real challenge towards 8600s, and that's where the difference between 8600 and 8800 become noticeably large. AA highly depends on ROP and memory bandwidth, which 8600 seriously lacking towards 8800. I ve clocked my 8600GT with almost GTS speed, yet still not satisfy in games like NFS C and COH, high AA and AF will really strangle the 8600s

as minimum as 400W, its highly recommended a true power one, and combined or single 12 V rail must have at least 26A lar...
