Wah sleepy, your PC spec is almost identical of mine, except for the GPU and mobo. I guess that wipe out my worry if I buy 8800GTS. Anyway, that's a big if since I'm stuck at 1280x1024... smile.gif smile.gif

shud be the same if Galaxy doesn't overclock... but usually Galaxy do overclock their card brows.gif

Why boss?? Planning to take one?? I'm planning to take one Galaxy 8800GTS if 2900XT performance for the several weeks fail to impress me. Am waiting eagerly on how 2900XT can perform... with new drivers...
*
gaji coming out today so looks like ill be ordering the 8800GTS once i settle my finances & bills. hopefuly everything ok...otherwise cant order....

the 2900xt is really attractive...but the driver issues and especially heat issues is really putting me off. more heat means more power and my pc is gonna be on 24/7 for torrents. dun wan daddy to start screaming about the electricty bill laugh.gif

as for the galaxy....i think they OC their cards...coz theres a shop here in MV that sells it...i saw on the box got written overclocked on the corner...just dunno how much OC done to it la...myself, planning on the BFG 8800GTS 320MB OC2. lifetime warranty drool.gif how i wish i have enough money for the 640MB OC2.

and hopefully next month's pay can get another one for SLi drool.gif

For 22" WS, 320MB would be sufficient. There's no much improvement owning a 640MB for 1680 x 1050 resolution. Save those money to grab something else you have in mind. smile.gif

Yea, this is the reason why i would not drop the 320MB 8800GTS out of my mind. To enjoy the potential of 22" WS on gaming to the fullest. Thats what kept me away from the 8600series for a while first..

I tested some games with my card on my LCD, some games are good, some are demanding for my card to handle.

STALKER max settings on 1920 x 1200 is just playable, mouse movement is lagging. 1680 x 1050 is great, although graphics will be not that crisp. NFS series, nice but sad that it doesn't support WS. GRAW is good enough to play with max settings with 1920 x 1200. Test Drive Unlimited also smooth with max settings. CnC3, haven't try it out. Now I wonder how my card will handle Crysis on my LCD. Guess might have to spend more getting a GTX at least. sweat.gif

Wouldnt a 640MB GTS be sufficient since the problem for you now is support for higher resolution?Need until GTX?

I guess you're worried about the PSU huh? I think this FMA II is powerful enough even for a GTX smile.gif Btw, I bought this card over the 320MB one because from HardOCP's review, it seems like 320MB's sweetspot is at 1280*1024. If you play at higher res, max all the details and use hi-AA and AF in certain games, its performance would drop compared to the 640MB due to lack of on-board memory. So I rather spend RM500 more for the extra memory, just to make it last longer a bit. Besides, I guess Crysis' gonna suck alot of video memory

Certainly it will. Still it's one of the best value card available around as for now. Hope you enjoy once the card has arrived in your place. smile.gif

Can 320MB version of 8800GTS provided enough juice for 1680 x 1050??

If not I would rather halt my decision of upgrading LCD stay with my 1280 x 1024 for a few month to come...

320 will have a hard time running 1680x1050 with eye candies..

reason is simple.. insufficient buffer.. (ram)

8800gts 320mb is sufficient to run games at 1680 x 1050 with all those eyes candies n u can hardly notice different of the 640mb version... i was shopping for a 640mb version b4 but after much reviews shown that ther's almost no performance different between 320mb n 640mb version at resolution upto 1680 x 1050... that's y i settle for 320mb version...

galaxy 8800gts 320mb oc version is running at 550/900... but i'm running it at 580/900 with chrader clock at 1350mhz...
