Anyone knows where can i get (or is it already here) the Galaxy 8600GE here in Malaysia? This card is tempting with Galaxy clocking up the speed of the 8600GT to match the speed of the 8600GTS.

The thing is, i have read some specs on the 8600GE and it matches the Core/Memory speed of the 8600GTS. If it was here and roughly around the price range of the GT, i will definitely get that, sacrificing the Zalman cooler as i have a Zerotherm lying around..

QUOTE(dattebayo @ May 20 2007, 07:17 PM) actually, the normal galaxy/palit pre-OC'ed card has alrdy the stock clock at 600/1600, I am now OC it at 680/1800... very close to gts stock Yea, that should be a main concern. How do you feel about the card?Worth the money?but one thing i afraid is, the GE version won't able to provide more headroom to OC anymore, so it can by far matching the GTS at stock. Since u ll need extra molex power to bring the card further. I am just worried that this card might not be able to handle the new 22" LCD i am ordering. Thats why i am still in doubt.. |

Well, if its really true that the ATI mid range card is also running on 128bit, it seems no point in waiting for them as well right.I do not neccessary need to play games on 22" native resolution but of course, if possible, i do hope it will be able to handle it..8600GTS seems like a possible solution for me unless the 8800 will drop price like crazy in the coming week..

Consider it in this case, i am quite desperate to get myself a GC and have a budget of roughly RM600 in hand. Which should i get the best?
And assuming i am going to get the 8600GT/GTS, i know its a little hard for it to handle a 22" LCD at native resolution during gaming. If in the future i have decided to get myself another GT/GTS and SLI it, will it be able to handle it by that time?Thanks.. |

QUOTE(dattebayo @ May 21 2007, 07:41 PM) http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=38988 Thanks for the info there...Gosh, and i wish the 8600Ultra is here now at a good price. The reason i am thinking of SLI is because i could not afford a single 8800GTS now. Therefore, getting something that i could afford and then try to add another in the future hoping it will perform better in gaming especially on native 22" resolution. and not every game as of now is SLI/multi GPU aware And i realise i am using Xfire board..lol..Doesnt seem practical anyway after seeing that qoutation.. |

QUOTE(jeromeccm @ May 22 2007, 08:42 AM) hmmm... i think i dont face any heat problem because i check very constantly the GPU temp,, The max it went was about 76C. I think it is the limiting voltage as what dattebayo said.... really itchy to mod... he he he.... but i know i for sure need a better coller if o further mod it..... unfortunately i dont know what other cooler/hs for my card.... mine is Galaxy and it comes with thecooler master hs/fan which looks like a zalman type... |

QUOTE(jeromeccm @ May 22 2007, 09:28 AM) ha ha... good question... i am searching for this answer as well... you got it do share here ok... As i know, a mixture of both is the best. This is my oppinion : Copper is good in term of transmitting the heat from the chipset to the copper but not as good in term of dissipating it into the air. This is where the aluminum comes in. It helps to dissipate the heat from the copper to the aluminum and then to the air. Thats why a mixture of both will be better. Unless you have a powerful fan to blow the copper, having full copper is kinda useless..Correct me if i am wrong..i noticed there are a few types... the once most commonly seen is the fins are fully copper and another one is mixture of aluminium and copper.... which one give the best heat dissipation? for sure the pure copper is much more heavier than the mix one... The reason i am asking is because, Galaxy products use their own PCB. They are using the VF900 on the GTS and if its the same as those third party ones, then i guess the GTS is able to fit most 7series HSF. On the GT, i never tried the CM one before. But from CM website, they are stating that the fan is capable of fitting 7series and 8series. So my guess is that it will be fine as well...Lol..dont shoot me if it doesnt.. |

QUOTE(jeromeccm @ May 22 2007, 10:58 AM) summary from your explanation. you mean that we can install the Zalman HS/Fan for the 7 series into the 86GT? If that so i am going to get one... Funny... my 3dmark01 still around 24k only.... i think 3Dmark01 is depending on the processor as well....... correct me if i am wrong.... |

QUOTE(mmohdnor @ May 26 2007, 10:09 AM) wahh most talks here involves 8800gts/gtx/ultra ... Because most of us here are at least on 7300GT already. So no point in getting the 8500 anyway. Unless for those who wanted to spend on a new PC and wanted to get a good budget card, then the 8500GE comes into that place..hmm nobody posts benchies on 8500gt or galaxy 8500ge? budget user here .. |

If you could afford it, then 8500GE seems to be a good bet to me. Playing on low resolution (1024 * 768) should be able to handle most games well minus AA and AF. Thats what i do with my 7300GT currently.

QUOTE(sniper69 @ May 27 2007, 02:10 PM) yeap, but i only comparing with my 7300GT's 3DMark03/05 score... it's 13028 and 5232. roughly, 8500GE's specs isn't big differ from 7300GT, but i think... in terms of future proof, better get the 8500GE... lol..Not to forget your 73GT is the OCed kaw kaw one ler..If you get the GE and OC it kaw kaw as well, then maybe the GE is better... |
