Are you using external device? Carlinkit? Wired or Wireless? If yes, what model you recommend?

I also thinking of using Car Play.

Managed to get CarPlay working with carlinkit cpc200-ccpa wirelessly

Mind sharing how to do this? Is carplay laggy on the head unit?

First foremost use the pdf shared by (ayamxxxx) earlier post. It will "OPEN" the GKUI.
now that you have ES explorer you can load the AutoKit.apk

Follow step by step instructions from carlinkit and you should be good to go

Pretty decent smoothness when using the app. However mic does not work as for now which means no Siri or Phone call. Hopefully that is a fix soon.

For the mic issue, have you try disable Hi Proton?
You will find rhat settings icon when opening Hi Proton

Good find bro. Didn’t even gave that a thought. Now the mic works. A couple more quirks to sought out, audio skips intermittently on Apple Music/Spotify/Plexamp (streaming services that I have tried) and every time the annoying use Autokit as default app even checked it reappears again when you get into car to drive again.

Unfortunately I don't own a X70, can't help much here.

For audio skips or stuttering:
Some user suggested, to go advance setting to change the audio setting to Bluetooth instead of 'Box'. So audio transferring via bluetooth (I think best to make sure your phone BT is connected to you car before that).
Try also connect using wired to check if stuttering can be resolved.
Alternative for wireless, try adjust in your Autokit settings, set screen size/resolution to lower and try lowest 480p instead of 720p, to check if stuttering due to bandwidth/cpu bottlenet issue.

For Autokit as default, no idea here.

Thanks for the suggestions. These are my findings. Wired no stuttering but defeats the purpose of wireless kit. Bluetooth works great even the skip and previous buttons works on steering as it should but introduces a downside during your phone call it kicks out of Carplay to the default GKUI phone app (not ideal). As for resolution and frame rate makes no diff to the stuttering.

In the end it has it downside but most important is probably Waze. It beats the laggy and non Carplay/AA version (buttons are tiny and overall experience just a downer)
