I don understand...

as u see one camera lens, there is 5.8-34.8mm

1:2.8-4.8

can anyone explain that? is there any calculation?

what about 35-210mm equiv. 6x zoom lens?

the equivalent zoom values is calculated by using this formula

zoom factor = max focal length / min focal length

therefore if 5.8-34.8mm that would be 34.8/5.8 = 6x zoom factor...

and 1:2.8-4.8 refers to the maximum aperture the lens can go...
for this matter the max the lens can go at 5.8mm is f/2.8 while at 34.8 is f/4.8...

i'll add on,

the 35~210 mm is 135 format equivalent. this means what you'll get on a normal film camera.

*i know thread starter will ask more and more questions soon... *

Chicaman, 135 format aka 35mm. It's usually printed on a film box.
