Apart from Butland which is looking the most realistic at the moment, Chelsea are also freshly linked with Kepa.

He had a 20 million Euros release clause in January but extended his contract and increased to 80 million Euros now. Madrid was touted to make a move for him in January but Zidane decided against it to keep faith with Navas. Perhaps Chelsea should have had the foresight to move for Kepa then when it was pretty obvious Courtois was going to run his contract down to force a move. Kepa won't be sold for anything less than his release clause either because of Athletic Bilbao's transfer policy.

This is the problems with Chelsea board and Roman, they fully aware Courtois looking for way back to Madrid but didn't take any action by looking for replacement or tied him down with another long term contract. I dont think that is the case, more like contract is offered but player dont want to sign and there is nothing the board can do about it.

Same case like HAZARD, contract on the table and he is not signing. Let say u are the board, what are going to do now ? Sell him now and find replacement ? but is not easy to find a replacement of HAZARD caliber. Losing HAZARD might also means losing Top 4 champion league place next season.

RM only willing to paying 35m for COURTOIS which RA/board might feel they are prepare to lose 35m if is to keep the squad strength and get into champion league next season. Remember ALISSON cost 60m and i dont even rate him better than COURTOIS, so we need to pay a lot more to replacement someone as good as COURTOIS.

I kinda agree with SARRI, if he committed then keep him and let him leave for free end of season, but if he say he want to leave then just sell him to RM now. But since he do a AWOL, we might just throw him to reserve for a season as punishment. Anyway the fault is at player, contract should be respected.

For me, if a player at last year of contract and not willing to sign then just sell. But fans will rage when we sell our best player and fail to achieve target end of the season. Even a replacement is bring in, it could be hit and miss and fans have to remember we are moving to a self sustain club so we cant really sell HAZARD and replace with MBAPPE. On the Courtois situation, since he has made his point clear, we should just sell him while we can get more $$ from Real.

From the list of Butland, Pickford. I think Butland more realistic to get, since Stoke has been relegated, and Butland has potential. Pickford I dont think Everton will sell for a cheap price. Butland on the other hand, an England International, I dont think he will wanna spend time in the Championship. And also Butland is proven in PL. Better bet than signing other league GK.

Worse case is Cech. Please dont sign him. With all due respect, I think he is way pass his prime.

It's not about the contract situation, the contract situation was well known months or even a year ago. His desire to move back to Madrid was never a secret. The Chelsea board should have seen this coming and be prepared to scout and bring in a new GK, not wait until the final days of a transfer window for Courtois go on strike. You now have a situation where your first choice target - Alisson, was snapped up by a rival because you moved too slow, and other targets are either unrealistic like Oblak/Pickford or lacking quality like Butland.

Everton will be demanding a GK world record fee for Pickford. This is the worst time to get him coming off a good WC.
