Hi guys, can a company fired u if u not performed your duty due to mental illness e.g manic depression?

If a company send you to a panel specialist hospital for psychological evaluation, will it impact your future job incase you need to find one (impact when prospectus company do background check and share their report with each other)?

First of all, did you disclosed your medical condition to your employer during the hiring process? Or did you just recently diagnosed with it?
If you were diagnosed with any sickness prior joining the firm, then you may be considered being dishonest and subject to be terminated. (Some companies state this clearly in hiring process).

Fret not about your psychological evaluation, the result is usually confidential - the psychologist will not reveal your details to your employer. My gf used to intern in one of these centres, so that's how I know it. Ethical centres will not reveal personal data to your employer or 3rd party that can reveal your identity.

It is always the better if you can seek help from the specialist ASAP. =)

Can a company fire you? Technically, it's illegal, but there's always a way around it.
This is just my own personal experience, maybe just my own bad luck, but HR people in my old company are more concerned with their KPI than being sympathetic of a fellow human being. As long as they can build up ''evidence'' that you are no longer capable of doing your job, and they had did "everything" in their power, then it's legal to let you go, just like relieving a lorry driver from his job after he turned blind.

In my case, it was attendance. Unable to arrive for work on time = unable to work, plain & simple, even though they know that the reason is medical. On their side they had provided "counselling", but its more to disciplining, make you geram, harass you until you cannot tahan.

Worst is all my medical papers were discredited as fake even though all of them come from the company's panel hospital. Win already loh!

So I left. rclxm9.gif

But then, maybe your company HR may be more sympathetic?

As for new company, I am more optimistic. Old company cannot share your medical details, it's highly PnC, you can sue them if they do.
As for prospect, well I am still getting calls for interview even though I told them my medical history, so not too bad it seems. Probably because got more and more people got mental problem these days?
