i try look around the mycar apps, seems driver quite a lot in my area. only few mins longer than grab but fare was way higher where usually cost 25 in grab and it cost 45 using mycar...omg. Unless grab down and very rush..will use mycar else don't bother.

hrrmm..surprisingly.. online info is a little confusing..

MMOnline

here it says its fare is similar to Grab and Slightly more expensive than Uber..

i did my own checking and comparing with Uber, its a lot cheaper, like 20-30% cheaper..probably due to surge

and it also mentioned fare is estimated and may change depending on traffic etc...but on its website, its mentioned fixed fare and no dynamic pricing... rclxub.gif

then there's no info on the fare breakdown, like how much per km, per min, base fare etc...only thing mentioned is RM5 min fare...and their comms is 12-15% from fare...

driver website "coming soon" hrrmm.....

The reason Grab could beat Uber was because of money from Softbank.
If Mycar is not backed by big investors it can't challenge Grab.

errr...Softbank is also Uber's largest shareholder.

i believe uber exits market becos it was over its head when it planned a world domination, fighting, competing & investing in every part of the world.
it wasn't 100% failed plan, i mean, if they sit in their own backyard only, rest of world (like grab) will come out with their own version of uber and uber will be too late to enter that market once its matured. so it needs to makes its presence felt in every part of the world.

ultimately, all startup want to attract investors. uber did that with flying colors.

plus they have this huge ambition of investing in self-driven cars, not without sense. same like DIDI's plan for the future where almost everything is automated.

well, its a lot of money to be spent in R&D of this super new & ambitious tech. just like tesla, they'd be burning tons of cash before a single meaningful successful experiment.

and most important of all, uber did not 'just' close shop in SEA. it is now a shareholder of Grab & Didi.

so it can concentrate on its own backyard & plan while still have its presence in rest of the world.

if i were softbank, i also dun want the 'brothers' to keep fighting for 1 pie and both ended up with crusts only.

keep the pie already in hand and go grab (no pun intended) another pie from somewhere else, and/or defend the pie someone else is trying to fight for.

I'm not talking about promo codes and free trips which Uber will reimburse the driver. I'm talking about short trips which cost more for the driver to get there than he earns in fares. Uber is not going to compensate the driver for this.

The toll incurred going to fetch the rider is paid by the driver.

actually, the uber system is a smart & fair app. i notice quite obviously, app will not send u a high value trip the minute u go online. u usually have to start with ikan bilis fares..a few trips and then uber will throw u a high value trip. i think many ex-uber driver can confirm this.

which is why sometimes its a wonder why uber will send me 10km and 15 mins pick up trip in a hot-spot area...i can't be the nearest or the only driver around. 6/10 times, these far pickup rides are those high value ones.

and the cycle repeats throughout the day and week.

and uber compensate these far pick ups with its trip incentives. there's also min fare on uber which is chicken shit RM3. with good incentives, each trip is worth RM2-3 more..effectively, the fares are almost commission free.

damnn...i think i miss the uber app real bad.... cool2.gif
