Watched it today... before a certain 'indie' film with big stars arrive this week
I have to say... the horror genre is quite cliche and easily falls into the same pitfalls.
To see something as refreshing as 'A Quiet Place' is such a relief.
The last great 'horror' film I saw was "Get Out" (that was more of a social commentary kinda film...) but this one, this one is totally unique.
Horror films usually go hand in hand with the grotesque imagery + sound, but here... it is done so masterfully, that sound > visuals!
OK la.. maybe until the 'monsters' really show themselves up close.
Here, sound is almost a character on its own... each individual 'obeying the rules' carefully is an absolute thrill.
Props to Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, the real life husband-wife duo, they worked so wonderfully well together.
The acting performances are nothing short of extraordinary, with Emily Blunt doing the 'heavy' work (pun intended)
Love the story (no spoon feeding), the pacing is as good as it can get (some say it is a slow burner, I think not) and the ending is precisely how it should be.
Easily a 9.5/10.
The only downside is probably the lack of the 'origins' to the creatures or some kind of hint as to how it all started (alien invasion?). But overall, a totally, totally immersible horror flick, A MUST WATCH!
