Health Ledger was Joker. Period.

Dude was universally acclaimed for his performance, which speaks volume. Jared Leto's portrayal in SS was cool, but dude was playing/portraying Joker on-screen.

Ledger did not merely gave his version/portrayal of Joker, dude reincarnated himself as Joker. Practically lived as the Joker incorporating even subtle gestures & nuances of vrious animals (Wolves, Hyenas) & real-life psychopaths

If dat wasnt enuf, Nolan's writing on Joker character in Dark Knight (2008) added depth to his origin. Be it the scars, his mindset, purpose of playing mind-games with Batman etc.

Nolan & only Nolan could justify a Joker film

The 1st trailer was much better.
*
Isnt it. This one looks like stage show. 1st trailer was eerie, atmospheric, gives vibe of getting into Joker's psyche

The latest one makes me wanna give it a safe miss.

Some things are better left alone...Batman for instance...or even the Joker...Christian Bale made great Batman/Bruce Wayne...and Heath ledger made superb Crime Prince of Gotham in DK...dude was hurricane...

As much as Joaquin Phoenix has impressed me in trailers...I'd say...dude should've been cast in BvS...or even in Matt Reeves Batman film

Gonna get a lot of hate for my review...

Nah...ur review was pretty straightforward. And balanced, explaining both pros & cons of the film

This film feels done purely to symbolize how society could transform worthless ant into unstoppable force. And damn sure even from it's trailer, we could know this film wouldn't have any fun, joy or Marvel-esque humors.

Just 1 thing. How do you wanna like a character that commits crimes & murders? I know it's a work of fiction, merely an adaptation from DC comics & stuff. But back in 2013, Michael Bay made Pain & Gain, a film based on true story abt 3 criminals succeeding in life. Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson alone somewhat made the film felt...relatable...both Mark & Antony Mackie we're obnoxious asshles dat don't give a fck abt killing ppl or other crimes. You simply cannot like these characters that are inspired from real-life prisoner's...it feels wrong on so many different levels

Joker is no different. At best, you may be amazed at the chaos he has inflicted to Gotham city & it's people. Or mind-boggled at multiple plans (say, Heath Ledger's Joker for instance).

Been watching the reactions, i must say Joaquin deserves an award.

I think it's the best version of Joker so far
*
Ya kah...I'm busy with work...so I can't really catch the film till end of the month...but I'mma asking outta curiosity...does Phoenix's version matches Heath's anarchist portrayal? Or is it watered-down?

Heath's joker is like the embodiment of chaotic evil, which makes him in a way, a lot of fun to watch.

JP's joker is much more uncomfortable and disturbing, mainly because he's relatable.
*
Wow...nicely said...

And I know it's an unpopular theory. But Heath's Joker in Dark Knight was theorized to be war veteran, considerin his lines like "when a truckload of soldier is abt to be shot" or his infamous interrogation scene with Batman where he talks abt being casted-out, "when the chips are down...these civilized ppl will eat each-other...they're only as good as the world allows them to be"...

It's as-if Heath was disavowed war veteran.....and decided to destabilize Gotham's system via anarchism...wheras JP's Joker seems purely Product of Toxic Society...hence it has to bear the consequences of it's creation

5/5 from me. Damn Dark for a comic book movie. Definitely the best Joker, sorry Heath. This Joker is much violence and I love that it had comic book vibe throughout the movie. Poor Tony Stank, can kiss goodbye to Oscar. Ha-ha-ha.
*
Did Tony stank...sorry did rdj even showed an oscar-worthy performance? 🤣🤣🤣 All he did was being his usual self...

JP even from trailer itself showed phenomenal method acting...and I believe dude lost abt 40 pounds for this film...and all the praises be received for his portrayal in the film....dayum... Oscar confirmed😂😂😂

Well, that was what Marvel fans said after Endgame. tongue.gif

Have u watched Joker bro? What was your rating? I’ve seen your comment all over the place, never saw your rating yet. brows.gif

To me, in order to really appreciate this Joker movie, you got to have feelings, you got to feel what’s Arthur felt, you have to understand the character development. Else you’ll felt this movie bland like my wife. Because she didn’t care about what Arthur’s been through throughout the movie.

1 more thing, this Joker doesn’t try to be as Heath, its totally different, I’m not sure why people kept on saying he tried hard to be Heath. He’s unique, and the most logical Joker’s introduction I have ever known. Toxic society! thumbup.gif

I am yet to catch the film bro. My schedule is tight till end of this month...I might catch it durin Deepavali holiday season🤣🤣🤣 but I do caught up the film's overwhelmingly positive reviews barring 2-3 mixed ones...watched some reviews from my trustable YouTube channels....and they were positive towards the film as well.

Joker trailer itself created an impact...and I except nothin else from the film for sure. Seems like I'm already sold with JP's method acting

Joker viewers storm out of theatres worldwide over 'disturbing, violent' content

This one no laughing matter la aiyo🤣🤣🤣 remember the mass shooting incident that took place when Dark Knight Rises premiered?

Just imagine what would've been the mindset of victims when got shot to death just when they watched epic conclusion to their Batman trilogy....what abt the fans dat escaped? Sure as hell would've suffered PTSD till date...unless few strong-willed souls have managed to overcome such traumatic event.

And talk abt Joker...who embodies chaos, psychotic nature & all-out badassery. The fear must've been 10-fold

People now are too sensitive. People didn't complain about films like Godfather then. That film was more violent than joker though... still can't sleep over luca brasi's death dem...

*
And here I was thinking I might be the only guy who watches Godfather & appreciates it's brilliance🤣🤣🤣 it's masterpiece yeah...when its violent, the film turns violent. Who could forget the bloodbath after Michael assumes the throne? Goddamn...it was massacre...and yet..audiences during those times embraced such dark & violent saga...kids these days are mellowed with pg-13, LGBT, leftist whatnot😂😂😂 so everything becomes an issue

$543 million worldwide gross!  blink.gif

Hope to see more 'experimental' DC Black films... these are territories Disney/MCU would shy away.

Dats where ur makin the mistake. Not every DC villains are Joker.

Past DCEU trilogy: Mos, BvS & JL was trashed by critics & fans alike for being too dark...and yeah...visually those films were "dark" courtesy of Snyder's photophobia 🤣🤣🤣

Plus in order to experiment, you gotta have be backed by real talent at helm. Speakin abt director. Along with James Wants (Aquaman) & WW director, Todd Philips have managed to strike an ace, thx to their films dedicated actors. Dare say no one could ever pull-off WW better than Gal Gadot, or Aquaman better than Jason Mamoa or Joker than Joaquin Phoenix.

Finally, I watched the film tonight. 3/5 or 7/10 imo. And dats being super lenient

One thing bothered me. Why didn't the director push the envelope? Like really. I can understand Phoenix's portrayal was meant to be relatable, epic. I wanted more screen-time of Robert de Niro, more of Bruce Wayne, or his actions abt his agenda..or extend Joker's ferocity or display his smartness in my favourite scene of the film (train segment). Joaquin Phoenix gave his best performance...and dare say very few actors could do justice to this film. But I was left wanting more

Unless it's sequel has lotsa in-store, I'd rather prefer Heath's portrayal. I'm saying this cuz Russo Brother's Captain America: Winter Soldier & Civil War added lotsa weight & value to 1st film, CA: The first Avenger.

I'm saying this unless Joker 2 rocks by pushing the envelope, I'd pick Ledger considering his anarchist agenda stroke terror in me (and pretty sure most viewers watching him). Phoenix was sympathetic character till last 30 mins or so. Really wished makers pushed the envelope giving us more Joker than Arthur Fleck

*laughs at WB for thinking that DC characters are not bankable enough*

I'd say it worked cuz it was "Joker" brand value + Joaquin Phoenix's magic.

Dare say no other MCU or DCEU' mc/villain/anti-hero-driven film could've made it as big as Joker did @ BO had not for those 2 aspects

We share same sentiments I see. I wanted the makers to take bold & ballsy moves especially considering we are post-IW & Endgame. We expect makers to drive the film in directions that suprise the heck outta audience, catchin em completely off-guard...saying "Gotcha!" Dats part of the fun
