Anyone has the problem? I just activated the line yesterday, and was on wifi all the time. At the time of activation still have 10GB LTE and 50mb basic data. Today I check my self care again, and the 50mb data gone, and LTE left with 9.95GB. I don't think I was able to use 100mb of data in such a short time span......

What phone are you using?

Certain Android phone switch to mobile data even though there's wifi available without notice. It switches when wifi temporarily DC.

Redmi 3S

My previous telco umobile and singapore's M1 all don't have this problem. Only unifi mobile is consuming 100mb of data in less than 8 hours.

Additional note: my phone shows only 173kB data used since yesterday, so it did not tally with the balance in the selfcare

It is a known issue, I already reported this to CS since 1st week trying it out.

The problem is sometimes you use 3G/LTE (might be due to unstable network), it will show your total data -100MB. After you connect back to your home WIFI (regardless of what ISP you use) it shows your total data without the -100MB. CS didn't resolve this issue as not enough volume of reports on this case.

My case happens on my 3G 1GB data balance.

You're totally right! I'm now back home and just restarted my phone and hooked on the wifi, now it shows me that I'm back to 10GB LTE and 49mb 3g.

The funny thing is when I called their helpline, they insist that their system show I have used 100mb. Now I know they are BSing me.

Really, this unifi mobile is only good for their no expiry date data. If there's a rival company offering that I'll MNP

Im from umobile, dont think coverage can be shittier?
Thanks for the advice

That's true, Umobile coverage is really shit.

When one assess coverage, it shouldn't actually be the location of the 4G coverage, but what happens if there is no 4G coverage, i.e. the "fallback line".

When unifi mobile 4G has no coverage, it falls back to 3G tapping on the celcom network. Celcom 3G has a pretty large coverage, and surfing speed is ok for the usual apps like whatsapp, emails, etc.

When Umobile 4G has no coverage, it falls back on the Maxis 2G network. Which is very shitty, you can't even open a simple email with that.

That's my experience with Umobile, and why I have switched to unifi mobile smile.gif

some corections here
unifi mobile 4G @ webe unlimited 79 can use celcom 3G data
unifi bebas split quota 3G / 4G.  3G quota used first before using 4G quota. Once 3G quota depleted line connected but no data for 3G.
Umobile 4G fall back to umobile 3G.
*
One cannot fallback to itself. It fallbacks to other providers. Your umobile 4G to 3G is not a valid comparison.

When I was still having the free 20GB quota, the 3G tak boleh jalan one.

Includes the free 50MB.
*
Of course, unifi mobile always uses the 4G first, thus your 3G cannot jalan.

I'm staying in an area where there's no umobile 4G and no unifi mobile 4G as well. Previously my line is always maxis 2G. Now I changed to unifi mobile, I always get 3G

then whenever you buy data the 4G always get wasted lor...?

Considering that I only use 50mb data per month, yeah this is the best plan for me. RM10 can stretch me for months or even years.

They use online/real-time charging. There's a mechanism where the network reserves X amount of MB (i think in this case its 100MB) from the billing system to reduce the calls and processing that the billing system has to do. The network will only report back at set intervals (e.g. 10 minutes, configurable.) or when the 100MB is used up.

Any unused amounts will be returned back, so you don't have to worry. You can see this when you go back to wifi, your value will add back up to 100MB or close... minus whatever you have used.

e.g:
If lets say the you only use 50MB after 10 minutes, the network will report Used Service Units (USU) = 50 MB, and then the billing system will subsequently provide Granted Service Units (GSU) another 50MB to top up (to become 100MB). when you disconnect from their network, there will be a session termination call, and they will report the USU to the billing system... so lets say u have used another 20MB only, the remaining 80MB will be returned...

so what happens when I have less than 100mb left, driving on the road, suddenly waze cut off due to not enough data balance? 10 minutes is a long time and anything can happen

Did you tried your Unifi mobile SIM on others phone?

Yup, I just borrowed my friend's phone to try according to the customer care personnel. No luck. I put his SIM into my phone and it's working fine. Really strange hmm.gif
