Thought I read something about them not accepting new registrations and was recently reopened. :shrugs:

I'll get it if there's no better offer for unifi mobile after 31/7 biggrin.gif

Really. Oooh, that package is a bit pricey but very tempting 🀩. I'll check it out for sure. With data usage averaging more than 120GB a month, I am very tempted

Glad to share! rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

sad to say that the whole OCS (Online Charging System) mechanism is not understood by many even in telcos. It's fairly complex... and when I was doing it, other than the vendors... there were only 1-2 people who actually understood it

QUOTE(koja6049 @ Jun 14 2018, 10:22 AM)
so what happens when I have less than 100mb left, driving on the road, suddenly waze cut off due to not enough data balance? 10 minutes is a long time and anything can happen
*
That is only the default reserved service unit (RSU), so if you have less than 100MB, it will reserve whatever is left and nothing will be wasted.

only scenario where something can potentially be wasted is due to their their minimum chargeable amount. E.g. lets say they set minimum chargeable amount to 10kB. If you only use 7kB in a period before terminating your connection (airplane mode or switch to wifi), the 3kB is considered forfeited since their minimum is 10kB

you don't really have to worry really, you only get charged what you use. They don't want to fall into legal/audit troubles.

QUOTE(devious_mind06 @ Jun 16 2018, 12:33 AM)
Isn't the purpose of real time charging, the charging is real time or almost real time with no to minimal delay? So, this means that we will not see any increase in usage until the 100MB are used up or the session is terminated or the 10 minutes is up?
*
the correct term is 'Online Charging' rather than 'real-time'. I used real-time just to put to perspective. All prepaid systems use online charging. Legacy postpaid systems use 'offline' charging - you can't check call data records until after your bill is produced. In offline charging they wait for the bill to run to do batch processing

so back to your question, yes you are right in that you will only see updates every 100MB used, or session terminated, or 10 minutes (or whatever they set leasing time) to be up

Seriously, they can't comprehend even a simple question!!?
My chat goes something like this(my intention was to determine whether the problem was with my phone or the carrier, although other carrier has no problem):

Me: Hi, my 4G keeps dropping to 3G and the volte indicator is gone, is there any network issue or problem with my account?

Rep: What phone are you using?

Me: Samsung galaxy s8

Rep: FYI, not all phones support 4G, not all phones support Volte and it is still what experimental

Me: s8 does support LTE band 5 and volte.

Rep: Have you checked the APN?
(I don't know what this has to do with the cell signal strength, I can connect to internet just fine)
Me: Yes I did, the APN name is unifi isn't it?

Rep: I will send you the configuration. Install and reboot your phone.

Me:Ok

After reboot got email stating problem solved.

Me to myself: yeay, problem solved, what, no, whose problem???*profanity ensued*

It was probably my phone, but TM has a history of making disruptive config change before so just had to make sure. I am really considering porting out to Digi unlimited if they still have those
*
I am facing the same problem with you. Using S8 and my voLTE suka suka will go missing and then I will stuck with H+ or H. Really forced me to consider of porting out.

It's easier with voice charging, when the call is terminated/ session ended the stop record can already be written in cdr. But I'm quite lost with data charging because it involves very long session and a lot of em and can create a bottleneck if every 10kB needs to be updated. Thank you for clearing things up.

Maybe we should wait a while until the coming OTA update and see if anything changes. If not, what to do, porting out is just a few megabytes away

They use online/real-time charging. There's a mechanism where the network reserves X amount of MB (i think in this case its 100MB) from the billing system to reduce the calls and processing that the billing system has to do. The network will only report back at set intervals (e.g. 10 minutes, configurable.) or when the 100MB is used up.

Any unused amounts will be returned back, so you don't have to worry. You can see this when you go back to wifi, your value will add back up to 100MB or close... minus whatever you have used.

e.g:
If lets say the you only use 50MB after 10 minutes, the network will report Used Service Units (USU) = 50 MB, and then the billing system will subsequently provide Granted Service Units (GSU) another 50MB to top up (to become 100MB). when you disconnect from their network, there will be a session termination call, and they will report the USU to the billing system... so lets say u have used another 20MB only, the remaining 80MB will be returned...

i noticed this. the unused mb fluctuates up and down from time to time. so this is the reason. thumbsup.gif

folks.. what to do if i wanna cancel one of the sim i got from previous 5? Actually don't quite like the number. so, wanna cancel one of it and use my current number... another reason is, with 5 sim as maximum, when i request to shift to unifi mobile to retain my current number, unifi mobile not allow due to maximum 5 sim obtained previously... don't want to wait until 90 days for it to expire though...

It’s changed to maximum 3 sims per IC now. So, if u could cancelled 1 number (which u cannot), u still exceed the maximum numbers allowed per IC.
I suggest u try to port the numbers to other telco prepaid, it would be faster than it gets terminated itself (90 days). Then, you could try to port your number to unifi mobile.

Depends on your data usage. The Digi prepaid Live gives away many quota for streaming and everyday from 1 to 7 pm, but if you stream all the time, cast to every screen that can be casted, download everything to your phone, auto update over cellular, it might not be enough.

Also the calls and sms will be charged

The SIM Card will remain valid for as long as either one or all of the following activity is carried out;

I. Reload your Account
II. Purchase any Add-Ons
III. Perform any outgoing transaction in the form of Call/SMS/usage of Data

Should you fail to do either one or all of the above within a period of ninety (90) days, the SIM Card will become inactive and the Service will be Terminated. Any remaining Credit and/or Allowance will be forfeited. The Mobile Number will be released to the general pool of numbers. You will not be able to get back the same Mobile Number.

last time chargeable activity means something that need to be charged on your balance, means using call/sms from add on is not consider as chargeable activity.
but not outgoing transaction means included using call/sms from add on as well.

Meaning this TnC is better than previous one right?

No matter what you do (call/internet/SMS) it is considered as outgoing transaction.
