I have a 2017 MBP w/touchbar. Everytime when I connect to an external monitor (Samsung), I would need to do a restart on my MBP only the external monitor is able to read/connect. HDMI from monitor is connected to my usbc port using a multi adapter.
I have tried unplugging and plugging it back via my usbc and also adapter but nothing works. Only works when I restart my MBP.
Anyone encounter this issue or solution to solve this?

I had no problem with display port from Belkin thunderbolt 3 dock and VGA adapter from Apple with my 15" MBP 2017.
will be getting the HDMI adapter from Apple next month, can test for you, although I believe its either your adapter has malfunctioned or....

When I connect my external monitor using the moshi adapter, sometimes I need to unplug and plug it few times only it can detect my monitor. Besides that, when my MBP 2017 connected to the moshi usb c dock, MBP's wifi seems got problem.

What a disappointment from a ex windows user!
Always thought MacOS was a more stable platform.
I was wrong! Such a simple thing also Apple cannot make it. Joke!
