anybody tried Alpha brand before? Any thoughts? a few shops is Penang is selling Alcova, Vannus, Luna , all from Alpha brand... kindly share your thoughts whether Alpha brand ok or not...

also, u guys all using AC motor? why not DC motor?
*
I am using Alpha Vannus Pico 36" and Alpha Vannus Luna 56" both with LED and DC motor.

I look at it this way, a KDK 48" DC motor fan with LED cost RM749 from CIMA Lighting, cheapest I surveyed. An Alpha Vannus Pico cost RM280 from House Lighting at Puchong.

Good fans, quiet operation, fairly powerful and good wind spread relative to its size.

DC motor gives it a quieter operation. However not sure about whether it saves any electricity as it is not something we use that often. Definitely the cheapest DC motor fans in the market.

The downside? Remote once drop then it does not work. Thankfully a new one is not expensive to buy.

Other than that I would highly recommend it as does my Aussie tenant who uses it far more than me as she mostly opens the window and uses the reverse function rather than switch on the air conditioner.

I have 3 Sharp fans, more than two years and all are working fine.

Last year, one made noise but it had a 3 year warranty. The repairman found little pieces of stone in it. So he said complete all renovations before installing the fans. Good tip, I think.

Wow... Sharp is rare. Which model did you bought and how much? Sharp ceiling was selling pretty cheap a few years back before a sharp increase.

I bought a PJW176 for RM299 couple years ago. Even my SIL who worked in Sharp also cant get this price when she saw I had this fan box in my living room. I just installed it earlier this year and it was surprisingly pretty good. I used to installed a yuragi 4 blade and bayu 5 in my room but I dont know whether it is the unstable current in my room wiring, both also very fast spoilt and even after changing all the capacitors on the board, it still hum. The Sharp runs very quietly except that cover is slightly bend and rub against one part. I did not know how to dismantle it to quick fix but it is not as annoying as panasonic fan ommm ommm ommm...

I think it depends on which model

Mine is the DC motor model
Switched on 24x7 since 2017 until today.
No issues.

Update on my panasonic DC motor fan.

It's still working fine until today.
Switched on 24x7.
The only time I off it is when I clean the fan. Otherwise it is running all the time. I have a dog in my house. That's why.

Happy with this purchase.

I am sitting underneath it, can't see the model. But I couldn't find the same price 150+, so my new ones are kdk and panasonic.

I have only seen fans with remote control in the last 10 years. Is there a reason for the control to affect the power?
It's like switching it at the wall or asking somebody to switch it, I think.

I like remote because there are fewer holes in the house wall.

When i moved in to new house more than 10 years ago, i equipped all upstairs with panasonic fan, the entry level kind, 3 metal blade, around 4 of them.

I equipped downstairs with 2 alpha fan, 3blade forgot model, translucent black plastic blades. (One with remote, one without)

I like alpha, super silent, even with speed 4 or 5.
Wind dispersion is quite wide.

Where else, the panasonic ones are...waste of money.
At speed 2, the wind really biasa, angle dispersion lousy, have to be directly under the fan. Using higher speed not much difference it is just louder..u wont sleep well with that db level.

Whether alpha last or not, its 50 50, the remote fan dead.
The non remote one lasted me around 11years, recently the speed unable to adjust beyond speed1. Wanted to repair but service center not open due to mco.

Bought and installed alpha vannus 3blade 56inch remote, allblack.
Cheap, lesser than rm300. Performance good, quiet as usual and wind is not bad.. maybe lose alittle to my previous old alpha, perhaps due to the design of the blades.

Wanted to test buy those fancy hidden fans with led lights on marketplace, around 200rm, looks modern and awesome, see if worth it or not, can test on 2ndfloor living area.
